Hunter just came back from the interview and tired, though it was impossible, the reason he was tired was that he hadn't seen that pretty face, that sweet scent. It invaded his nostril the first time he approached her, it made him lose his motor skills, it was lime. He didn't see what she looked like when she realized who he was but he could sense her shock from her voice. He wanted nothing more than to look at her face but couldn't. Earlier before he approached her, he could hear the thoughts of everybody except her. He listened to the thought of a guy, whose name he later found out to be Silas, and through his thoughts, he found out he is her boyfriend it really broke his heart and he regretted hearing everybody's thoughts.
"Hunter" Jacob called. He was the same with his grandfather, Hunter's old friend. No difference, even in character. He made it possible for Hunter not to fill the absence of his friend and beta.
"Yes," Jacob walked inside the room.
"The journalists are here," Jacob said with a bit of pity he could understand why Hunter hate them. They're too inquisitive for their own good. Ever since waking up, they are what Hunter has come to hate.
"Would it be bad if I use my powers on them"
"Yes" he answered genuinely, and that was one of the reasons he remind Hunter of his old friend. Jacob was always up for mischief like his ancestor, and with his answer, it sealed the fate of the journalists.
They both stepped outside, they were more than twenty journalists waiting for Hunter. It did not matter to him anymore. They all stood and pointed out their microphones, some with cameras, and Hunter found his ears are already flooded with thousands of questions. Hunter dare not tap into their thoughts for it would be questions after questions
"You all have all been curious to know how powerful I am." He ignored their questions and went ahead to speak with a loud voice that radiates with power. They all cowered with fear but their curiosity made them stand their ground waiting for Hunter's next action and hoping they would be able to caption it on camera. Some are already making up a perfect headline in their head. The ladies there were having a lot of indecent thought that Hunter would consider himself lucky for keeping his telepathy to himself.
"Well, let me show you a glimpse of it." He looked at Jacob and he still had the famous smirk that he never knew he inherited from his ancestor. Hunter turned to the journalists with a devilish grin and used his psionic powers to control them. Only high order of witches can do it to a limited amount of people and lucky for Hunter, his grandfather (maternal) was a high order wizard. So, with his gene and other genes in Hunter, it amplified his powers so he could control more amount of people, but still limited.
"You all should go home and give me rest. Because of you guys I haven't rested since I woke up" just like that they all left and he smiled inwardly. This was one of the times he was glad that he holds such powers as a hybrid.
"That's wicked," Jacob said as he high-five Hunter. "so what's up for today?" he asked. He had been with Hunter since he woke up from his slumber and they have bonded over time. Maybe it was because they have the same view of the world or because Jacob reminded him of his dead friend. Whatever reason it may be, they are now considered best friends and Hunter has promised never to invade his thoughts.
"I don't know, since I've pretty much seen everything I am not really in the mood to go out." Being a super-being like Hunter has its downsides. He is hardly surprised for he sees things or senses them miles away. He can cover a great distance in a matter of seconds, if he was curious about anything, all he had to do was read the thought of someone. There is hardly any challenge for hi
"Ok" Jacob looked at him and continued "you have been sleeping for 500 years and you never woke until now, can I know why?" just like his grandfather, ever the curious one
"Well," Hunter decided to answer him truthfully and confide in him for he is his best friend now "I went to sleep because I couldn't find my mate so I grew bored being stuck in 18 for many centuries, I decided to sleep." He chuckled as he remembered it "Even your grandfather wanted to join me since he hasn't found his mate too." Jacob looked surprised and Hunter knew nobody ever told him about it.
"So what stopped him?" he asked
"The day we decide to go we were just taking care of things to leave command to Elijah, 3rd in command that same day he saw his mate. She was visiting our pack for the first time." Hunter laughed again as he remembered the shock when Jacob saw his mate, it was pure euphoria for him.
"So, he now stayed back, even I stayed back for a month for their weddings and with the hope that I would be lucky like him, unfortunately, I wasn't. I went ahead with my plans and said my goodbyes to Jacob." Hunter remembered it just like yesterday, he could still see the sadness on his face. He felt bad for not being there for his friend.
"As I was sleeping I could feel emotions, strong ones. Like when your grandfather died, I felt it, but it wasn't strong enough to pull me out of my slumber." Hunter took a glass of water and gulped down to flush down the guilt rising from the dept of his stomach. It didn't matter to Jacob because he only heard of his grandfather's bravery and never saw the man.
"So what was strong enough to pull you out?" Jacob asked. From the looks on his face, Hunter could tell he didn't blame him for his grandfather's death, and he was glad for that.
"My mate being in danger. I opened my eyes immediately I felt her emotions, it was fear. It was the strongest thing I have felt since I went to sleep." Hunter went and sat on the little pavement, they were now sitting opposite each other. "With her emotions waking me up, I now felt you. It was the same with your grandfather and then I felt everybody. While most people's emotions were fear, some were afraid they will die, some were afraid they can't protect their loved ones. Yours was just pure anger." Hunter looked at him and saw anger flash before his eyes then it dawn on Hunter that he hated them for taking his grandfather. Hunter had no idea that he was far from the truth, Jacob's hatred for the Azalk has nothing to do with his grandfather.
"When I got up I ran at a lightning speed. On getting there I saw the wolf trying to rip her throat, I roared my loudest." Hunter decided to stop since Jacob knew the rest of the story
"From this story, I still can't say for sure who the mate is but I have a good guess," Hunter being curios asked him to say who he had in mind. "Isabelle Kings" he answered and Hunter chuckled.
"Yes," Hunter confirmed.
"So that is why you're also starting school which you don't actually need?" he asked with a smug
"Bingo" This was among the new words Hunter has learned. Jacob laughed at his ancient friend trying his best to fit in the modern era.
"Why close your eyes? She needs to see your eyes to know you're her mate." Jacob found it confusing that Hunter hasn't claimed her yet or made her know she was his mate. That should have been his first instinct like every other supernatural.
"Well, I was reading people's thoughts to know who was Azalk and who was not. I read Silas thought and knew he is her boyfriend and according to his thought they're pretty much in love." The thought of them having shared some intimacy made Hunter murderous.
"Still, she is yours and nobody is allowed to touch the queen." Jacob shared the same murderous thought as his friend.
"You really sound like him." Hunter smiled and brought out the sunglass Isabelle gave him. He was going to be seeing her tomorrow, he wondered if she would naturally be drawn to him or be with her boyfriend. Hunter thought of how jealous he would be if that ever happened before him. He is the Alpha of Alphas, the king of supernatural, he is expected to be possessive over his mate even more than royals. Any person that inappropriately touches her would be at the risk of losing his life. That's what people would expect from the hybrid that has everything about him amplified, but unlike what people expected he has a high level of control and calm by nature.
"Let's go race," Jacob said "I've always won every member of the pack but I suspect you will be different" he stood up and ran off. He knew with some like Hunter, he didn't need to play fair.
"That's cheating" Hunter ran after him. It was only fair if he had a head start for Hunter is faster than any supernatural. In no time Hunter caught up with Jacob and passed him and he was not even trying
"You're faster than I thought," Jacob said panting
"You have no idea," Hunter said as they both head to the packhouse.
The Azalk group they captured has revealed their hideout and Hunter has decided to go there alone with Jacob. Every Alpha of a pack has the power to strengthen his pack members but not as much as the royals can. The Royals are the strongest in the supernaturals, though no one can say which royal is the strongest between the Vampires and Wolves. The high order Witches and Wizard also stand equal to them. They all have the ability to strengthen their kind. In the past, every race loved to fight beside their royal because drawing powers from them would make you feel invincible. Hunter who is considered the King of the supernatural has the power to strengthen any race he chose but he had decided to mind only his pack. He chose to visit the Azalk hideout with only Jacob because just like his grandfather he is strong and can make use of the strength he gets from Hunter well.
At midnight, they left the pack without anyone knowing and headed out to the location the prisoners revealed. Not long after they arrived in front of a hole inside a thick forest that leads down to an underground. They went down the hole and it smelled awful but they didn't mind. Hunter was already hearing the chatter of people down the hole. He was amazed that something like this was around. He admired the person that constructed the hideout.
"This place smells awful" Jacob spat in disgust
"Yes, we are about to enter, be ready, all of them are bad so no prisoners." Hunter had already read their thoughts and they had no vital information. They didn't even know if they were the only Azalk group remaining. The one that acts like their leader thinks they are. Hunter was glad there was no kid among them. He kicked the door open, he wanted to have fun so he didn't roar or control them to do his bidding. It would have been easier and he thought it was lame to kill defenseless people, that was why he left them their free will. The moment the door slammed open, they all stood on their feet all ready to attack. The wolves transformed, the witches and wizard set their hands ablaze without their skin burning, the vampires extended their fangs.
One wolf ran towards Hunter and all he felt was how quick the wolf was about to lose his life. He extended his claws and waited for the wolf to get closer to he would rip his head off his body. Before the Wolfe could reach him, Jacob ripped his head off and turned to Hunter with a smirk. Cunning bastard, Hunter thought and smiled at his friend.
"Let's see how has the most kill." Jacob knew fighting alongside Hunter makes him almost invincible. He didn't care about the number of the enemies, he knew with Hunter beside him, he can as well be called God of war. The two dashed towards the enemies with a face filled with euphoria.
Hunter was faster, he kept ripping heads, slittings throats, tearing limps. He would pause sometimes to look at Jacob. Jacob looked happy ripping the Azalk apart and didn't need Hunter's help, he is making use of the power he is getting from Hunter. Hunter noticed the witches that circled him, he was more dangerous than Jacob so they are more concerned in bring him down. They are gripped with fear for they have never seen anyone so strong. They all know of the story and how powerful their founders were but they never imagined the power to be real. They even thought of giving up but did not because they didn't want to shame the names of their leader. They have no idea if they are still alive or not, they just don't have any other choice but to unite in their names since no one was willing to take such criminals like them. They circled Hunter and tried to burn him alive but as they started their fire went off and refused to start up no matter what they did. No matter the spell they cast nothing seemed to work and they knew that Hunter was the cause of it.
"Impossible." One of them said and Hunter smirked then closed his eyes. He was also a wizard, though he hardly use it and knew very little spell, these levels of wizards were nothing to him. The moment he opened his eyes they fell on the floor with blood coming out of the eyes and nose.
"What have you done?" A vampire asked.
"Magic." He answered and went ahead to strangle him to death. With only a few remaining, Jacob came over to him.
"Looks like we should put them out of their mystery" Jacob was bloody from brutally killing them. If someone walked upon them at this very moment, Hunter and Jacob would be seen as the Villains.
Hunter kept thinking about what Isabelle would think of him if she saw him like this. With countless corpses surrounding Hunter and Jacob, surely she would be afraid. Hunter hopes she never sees him like this, ever.
"It is over," Jacob said as they stepped outside and Hunter magically set the hideout ablaze. They felt relieved that they won't be hearing from Azalk.
"All these I do is for my people and her safety. No matter what I do no matter how hideous and monstrous it may be, it is for the safety of my people." Jacob knew it was his way to justify their actions.
"You don't need to justify your actions, they deserved it." He gritted and Hunter nodded.
"Come let us go." They went home and Hunter was glad and happy because he would be seeing Isabelle tomorrow, his Queen, the Queen of the supernatural world.
