After over thirty-years of searching, Ravuth at last feels hopeful. 
Recalling the last time he saw his parents and mischievous younger brother at his village, when the Khmer Rouge herded them off like animals, along with the rest of the villagers, he can only imagine what they have been through. 

This thrilling, unpredictable, yet sometimes hilarious quest, takes you from the fashionable London restaurant scene to the wild, untamed jungles of the Cardamom Mountains, where an English baker helps a Cambodian refugee searching for his missing family and an elusive plant, the source of an exquisite spice.

The Spice

Ravuth, unable to sleep after receiving the email from Jed, went to the Thai restaurant early. He told Colin about his wonderful news and said needed to go sooner than he’d planned to Cambodia. 


Colin had known Ravuth for many years now, and both he and his wife liked and trusted this solitary old Cambodian. With Noy being Thai, she knew how important it was for Ravuth to find his family. They agreed, even though it meant the cake business closing over Christmas. 


Feeling delighted, Ravuth went to a travel agent, and booked a direct flight to Phnom Penh, departing in ten days. He called Jed when he got home with the date and time of his arrival.
