After over thirty-years of searching, Ravuth at last feels hopeful. 
Recalling the last time he saw his parents and mischievous younger brother at his village, when the Khmer Rouge herded them off like animals, along with the rest of the villagers, he can only imagine what they have been through. 

This thrilling, unpredictable, yet sometimes hilarious quest, takes you from the fashionable London restaurant scene to the wild, untamed jungles of the Cardamom Mountains, where an English baker helps a Cambodian refugee searching for his missing family and an elusive plant, the source of an exquisite spice.

The Spice

Exhausted, the three arrived at the outskirts of the village and, feeling that they wasted their time returning to the clearing, decided to eat, and head back to the jeep. 


“Stop!” Exclaimed Ravuth, seeing movement in the village as they came into the clearing. He spun around to Cake and Skie behind him and whispered. “It must be Sok! We’re too late.” 


They moved back into the jungle and hid behind a large tree trunk. 


Ravuth looked at the gun shaking in his trembling hand, wondering how it worked and whether he could shoot anyone. 


“Did you see Sok?” whispered Cake. 


Ravuth shook his head. “No, but I saw someone going into the communal hut. It could have only been Sok, so the giant must be inside.” 


Cake thought for a moment and whispered. “We’ll have to bypass the village and get back on the track leading to the jeep?” 


The three peered around the tree and looked as a figure emerged from the communal hut.
