Chapter 54: Bell Toll

It's been two months since Sir Areon has left and we have yet to receive a letter from him. Renaud hasn't said anything, but I could tell he was getting annoyed by me sitting in his study, griping about when the letter will arrive. I've been keeping myself busy and continuously trained with the squires to prevent myself from worrying too much.

I gazed up at the cloudy sky. The first snowfall had finally hit and giant snowflakes slowly drifted down landing on my face and melted into droplets on my skin.

The beauty brought tears down my temples. 'How can something so beautiful make me feel so empty and sad?'

"Charli?" Hamley stared at me puzzledly. "Are you okay?"

I quickly sniffed and wiped my eyes with my sleeve. "Yeah, the snow landed in my eyes."
