Chapter 60: Unexpected Letter

The following week, I was in bed sick as a horse. I couldn't keep anything down and my fever spiked. Sarey had the windows boarded up, but I was still so cold, I couldn't help but shiver. My heart ached painfully and I regretted my words to him every second of every day. I hated myself. Why couldn't I have just said something nice to him? Afraid that they may very well be my last words to him, I drowned myself in sorrow.

Prince Raulyn took over as Regent and constantly ordered the maids to check on me. With Renaud gone, my freedom left with him. I was no longer allowed to go anywhere alone. Even when I trained with the squires, I was trailed by six maids and ten knights, it was driving me crazy. I guess Prince Raulyn didn't want to risk me making a run for it.
