Chapter 89: Success

I closed my eyes and tried to collect my composure. I will not die here. Not today. Not like this.

I felt a bucket of warm liquid poured across my face that smelled of iron. The demon collapsed on top of me, she was still and no longer moving. Pushing her off of me, I quickly wiped my eyes and scooted away. My vision was blurry and red, but I could see a headless figure in front of me.

"Are you okay?"

"Aeron?" I gasped and wiped the blood from my eyes. He helped me to my feet and I quickly turned to hug him, while balancing on one foot. "Are you okay?" I breathed, and hit him once on his chest. "Liar! Don't you ever do that to me again?"

"Sorry." He held me in his arms. "I had to or you would've never left."

I rubbed my eyes with my sleeve and finally I was able to see. I pulled away from him, holding him at arm's length and looked him over to make sure he was still in one piece. "Are you hurt anywhere? Are you okay?"
