I never knew about it...

I looked at my surrounding to see Xue and Yawen staring at me in horror. I got confused of what is happening and just answered Jingyi "I'm not what you think I am..."

Jingyi held me the neckline of my clothes "If you don't admit what you have done I might use force" but Xue held Jingyi's hand trying to stop him and telling him "Young Master, let's try to be reasonable." but Jingyi ignored him.

The man who got possessed by the dark figured stood up and on his knees begged Jingyi, "Master she saved me from being taken over by the monster. Please spare her." the man cried.

Jingyi who clenches more on my clothes, "Spare her? She just used dark magic. You all see it with your eyes."

"Yes indeed, Young Master." Yawen stood up "but she used it to save a man."

"Young Master Jingyi, it would hurt your reputation if you hit her." Xue added.

I could see people drawing near the inn and trying to check on what the commotion all about. Jingyi then released me and walked away. Xue held out his hand to help me get up.

"Are you ok Ms. Rai?" he asked me with concerned eyes.

"I'm fine. I just didn't know what happened."

The man I saved approached me and thanked me for saving him while crying. Yawen asked him what happened and told us his story. "Young masters, I was walking in the path between the forest and our village from hunting. I walked across a fair maiden in torn clothes asking me for help. As I helped her, she suddenly bit my neck and went blank. All I remember is the girl with you saved me from the being."

"You are conscious inside the black figure?" Xue asked.

"Not entirely. I just see what's happening but I cannot control myself." the man continued while I see him still shaking in fear.

"Thank you for telling us Sir. You can go home now you are safe." Xue gave the man some paper as he left the inn. Afterwards he faced me, "As for you Ms. Rai. Care to tell us how you cast the spell?"

"Xue, you won't believe me if I tell you I don't know would you?" giving out a big sigh after I see his expression like he really won't believe me. "Okay, I honestly don't know what I did but I just heard a voice of a woman telling me to recite that spell. I don't understand it at first but something just invaded my head and recited those words." I told them with eagerness to believe me.

"The red eyes you showed earlier is a sign of dark magic used by the shamans in Qing mountain." Yawen explained. To my dismay, I finally understood why Jingyi suddenly became furious.

"Is there any condition when you use black magic?" I asked.

"Yes, death is the answer." Yawen answered. I suddenly feel chills down my spine as I don't want to end here without getting answers and understand what is happening.

"Only if you prove your innocence can you be saved, Ms. Rai." Xue said as he handed me a cup of water. "You saved a man with your magic. Most dark magic users get executed by using it to harm others but we think yours was different." he smiled at me like he is confident that nothing bad would happen.

After a few minutes of conversing, we all went to our rooms but Jingyi haven't returned yet. I scanned the pages of the black book that I have and few more characters appeared. I strongly believed this is the key to what is happening but according to Xue it just keeps on recording the things happening to me and nothing more. It was also the first time they saw the book.

More and more questions filled my head but slowly I fell asleep.

"Rai Wei...Rai Wei..." someone is calling me in the middle of the heavy mist. "...help me end this...help me..." the voice slowly fades.

"Help with what?!" I shouted. "Please I don't know what you want."

"...follow me..."

"Follow you where?" the voice now longer answered me and I ran towards the woman but the distance just keeps on growing. "What do I need to do?! Answer me!"

I opened my eyes and realize it was just a dream. Someone is knocking at the door and it was Xue. "Good morning Ms. Rai. All preparations for our journey is complete. We'll be waiting for you outside." he bowed down and left.

"Okay, I'll see you outside." I closed the door and started to prepare. By the window of my room, I saw Jingyi tending to the horse. I hurried outside since I wanted to talk to him. When I approach him he gave me a cold stare.

"Ms. Rai will ride with Xue this time." he instructed. Feeling confused, I just followed his orders and rode with Xue. During the time we are traveling I keep on asking Xue about dark magic and he happily answered all of it.

"Maybe I can figure out how to use it?" I said.

"If you'll use it for good maybe I can help you." Xue said.

"Thanks! I appreciate it." I smiled back and made Xue blush a little.

"Let's stop here!" Jingyi shouted. "Let's get some rest first." he went down to from the horse and tied the rode in a nearby tree then headed inside the forest. I also went down and headed to the nearby river.

"This is beautiful." I said with fascination of the place.

"This is where we found you." Xue told me. He pointed out the other side of the river where they found me. "We are afraid when we found you because no one have survived on that path."

"But we are going to enter that path to get to Qing mountain?" I asked as I go pale.

"Hahaha. No. We will be going to the longer path which is much safer." Xue continued laughing. "Only someone like you is bold enough to take that path."

"But I told you, I don't remember anything and this is not my body." I face palmed but knowing he won't believe me.

"Ms. Rai, you said you wanted to learn dark magic for good. Right?"

"Yeah, I do. Do you know anything on how to use it?"

"No, but all magic bearers need to focus on their qi. That way they can control magic."

"Sounds new to me but I'll try." I excitedly followed Xue to a nearby tree.

"Let's try something easy first. You can use magic to heal." Xue held a broken branch and used magic to heal it, to my amaze. "You try. Remember to focus on your qi and think about healing the branch."

"Okay, let me try." I held a broken branch and concentrated about healing it. Suddenly a black light appeared from my hand and healed the branch. "I did it!"

"You sure are a fast learner, Ms. Rai"

We continued with the lessons when Yawen called us to eat. We returned back to the horses and eat the food Jingyi found deep in the forest. While eating, I see how disciplined they are, seating straight and quietly eating. After finishing the meal, we continued to our journey. We journey for hours and its almost dawn when we saw a village.

"We'll stop by Lotus Village and spend a night here." Jingyi said.

"Yawen and I will make arragements." Xue said as he bowed down and made their way inside the town.

I followed Jingyi to the stables and started to talk to him.

"I'm sorry if I made you angry last night. I really don't have an idea how I used magic."

"I'm not mad at you." he said without facing me "I was startled and confused when I saw you use dark magic. This is all new for me, an innocent dark magic user." he sighed deeply.

As I followed him outside the stable, a huge knife came flying to us but Jingyi was able to dodge it by his sword.

"Take cover!" he shouted as he held his sword up. I watched carefully my surroundings for any hint of the assassin. When I saw another knife flying in.

"Jingyi, watch out!" I casted a spell that made a barrier around Jingyi. He looked at me in confused state but I just shouted "I learned it earlier."

He continued to focus on the surrounding to our surprise, a large number of crowd is heading towards us. I walk closely to get a good view but....

"Are those corpses???!!!!!" I ran behind Jingyi. How can the dead be walking? This is really not something normal in the modern world. I mean, I read and watched movies about zombies but seeing it on real life gives me the creeps.

"Can you do that barrier spell again?" Jingyi asked.

"I'm not sure? I can try."

"Ok. Try to concentrate and place a barrier in the whole village."

Is this guy kidding me?! The whole village?

"Are you sure about what you are talking?" I started to panic as zombies approach us faster.

"Just try!" Jingyi shouted and tried to stop them from entering the village.

I felt the panic all over my body. I can't concentrate. If this is a dream I wanted to wake up already.

I heard the voice once again. "Recite with me... recite with me...." its the same voice I heard from last night and I guess I will just follow since it saved me before.

I took a deep breathe and thought I can do this. Then I heard the voice say to me, "Recite the incantation...allow me into your body". I felt the same sensation as before that feels like someone is taking over me. Once I was fully controlled, I heard her say: "I summon the one who reincarnate. Hear my plea and take them back to beyond."

In may view, I see the corpses being controlled and it seems like they are being fade into ashes. I looked for Jingyi, just standing there and exclaimed while looking at me, "Red eyes".

Once the corpses disappeared, the one controlling my body also vanished. Without any strength left, I fell to the ground. The last I see is Jingyi running towards me calling my name.

I dreamt of my own world, the modern one. I was drunk, I was talking to my aunt and a black figure suddenly showed behind her back. I shouted "Get back!". Then I woke up.

"Your awake?" Xue was sitting beside me by the bed.

"I guess so. What happened? Where's Jingyi?" I sat and getting confused since I passed out.

"The Young Master is fine. He brought you to this inn after the attack." Yeah, we are almost attacked by zombies.

"Okay. I feel so weak."

"Anything you wanted?" Xue went to the nearby table with some food on it.

"Just water, please"

As he poured me a cup, Xue then explained something to me. "Ms. Rai, I don't know the extent of your capabilities but based on the story of the young master the incantation that you used and controlling the dead is a very rare and powerful magic. Only a high level user or shaman can use it."

I read stories from the modern era but never did I heard about this shaman or dark magic users.

Xue continued, "You need to know how to fully control your magic or it will be dangerous for you."

Jingyi suddenly entered the room and approached me.

"It seems like I addressed you improperly." he said while staring at me. "I am accompanying the Mistress of the undead."

What?? Mistress of what? I looked at him puzzled and saw Xue took a step back.

"I don't know what you are talking about." I confusedly said.

Jingyi pulled out a chair and sat right next to the bed. "Have you ever know who your parents are?"

Parents? I don't know them. I always lived with my aunt since I was little and never asked her about my parents.

"Sorry but I never knew about it...."
