Chapter 26

Louisa wanted to warn Paul about the soup distribution. She didn't know if he was interested in that sort of thing, but she would like to find out.

She decided to go to the kitchen to drink some water. As she was walking down the stairs, she saw Michael coming in. He looked up, saw her, and smiled broadly.

"Lou, have we been called for lunch yet?" Michael asked, removing his gloves and walking over to her.

"Oh, not yet. But I believe we will be, soon." She answered. "Michael, did Paul tell you where he's housed? I would like to send him a message."

Michael's smile instantly withered. Louisa wanted to talk to that idiot Paul Russell.

"No, I don't know." He replied, colder than he would have liked. He let out a long breath. He didn't want her to be upset that he'd given the answer like that. "Sorry."

"It's all right. I was just going to ask Paul to participate in the benefit later." She said.

"So you want to invite him but not me?" he asked, genuinely offended.
