Louisa and Emmeline were getting ready to go to the food distribution. Louisa couldn't stop remembering that last year, Paul was there. She decided to use the gift he gave her. 


"Are you okay, my dear?' Emmeline asked, seeing that Louisa seemed sad. 


"Yes. I'll be better when Michael arrives." She said and Emmeline smiled. She knew Louisa was not sad because of the young man's absence, but because of something else. She was not going to force Louisa to say anything, though. 


Louisa decided to wear the same dress as the previous year. This was also her first Christmas without her parents or even the hope of seeing them anytime soon. She wore the dress her mother sewed to her.
