Chapter 68

The funeral and all it's preparations were ready the next day. The body was already in the coffin, at the first parlor. Emmeline was sitting, in a corner, having not approached Roger's body. She could not. That would mean he was dead, in her mind. If she didn't see it, it was not real.

Michael, as the new Duke of Windsor, was the one talking to people. He had to be strong, not only for himself, but for his mother. Louisa was by his side, all the time. She was the source of his strength. He could not be more grateful for her being in his life, not only as a lover, but as a true partner, even though they were not married yet. Everybody knew they were engaged, so it was only natural for her to be there. Some could already see that she was, indeed, meant to be the Duchess of Windsor.
