Five days!

Five whole days have gone by since that terrible incident.

Wolfram finally felt his body recover with no more dizziness or tiredness.

All this while, he had been living very lazily, sitting, eating, and hardly walking around because of Ivo's extreme care.

To him, sick people were supposed to stay bedridden, making no attempts to move.

Wolfram was shocked that his back hadn't already cracked after lying for so long on the thin, frail, and bony bed with hay piercing through his clothes and flesh.

Wolfram jumped off the bed, stretching every muscle in glee.

'Hahahahahaah~ Finally! I can do what I want!'

Wolfram was just about to do a victory dance when suddenly, he heard several strange noises approaching his hut from a distance,

Wolfram squinted his eyes as much as he could, only to open them again with a dumbfounded look on his face.

'I just took my first few steps today. So can't you guys give me a few more minutes before launching another attack? No? How about an hour?'

"Ivo!"

Like a shadow, Ivo leaped into the hut from the back door with a spear in his hands.

It seems that he too had heard the commotion from a distance.

With a fierce look on his face, he stared into the distance

"The son, stay behind me at all times."

Wolfram shook his head: "No. You stay behind me. And don't you dare argue… That is an order!"

Wolfram's words choked Ivo, causing him to swallow whatever it was that he wanted to say.

Wolfram took deep breaths.

If he was going to create a settlement, then he had to be a leader worthy of his people's appreciation.

Though he didn't look intimidating or give off any fierce aura, he believed in himself.

Was he a double agent in his past life? Nope!

Was he a crude and scheming person? Nope!

He was never a cold person back on earth. So having him transmigrate and suddenly develop a frightening aura was ridiculous.

And besides…in the books, not all protagonists are cold. Some were playful, others were shameless, and some were true villains.

So why can't he just be himself?

Even if he had to change… change needed time to happen.

"Ivo, get ready."

"Yes, the son!"

.

Wolfram and Ivo began waiting for their visitors to arrive.

But why? Why exactly were so many people heading their way?

It's been five days since that assassin matter.

And while the incident seemed like a thing of the past, a sudden worry emerged across the village, spreading like wildfire.

Over these past few days, other assassin sightings have been noted. And it was said that they were all coming for the boy.

Some people got beaten, almost killed, and traumatized after getting caught by the assassin who kept asking where Wolfram was.

Fear and panic engulfed the village, with many going about their chores in a daze, wishing for someone to take a stand and do what they were too chickened to do.

Individually, they wouldn't personally step forward, boldly doing the needful.

Who would want to assume the role of a bad guy?

Though they felt their decision was right, they still felt very guilty about doing it

And that's why one by one, they had secretly gone to the person they felt could help them in this matter.

Soon, their pleas became so heavy that the person they complained to had no choice but to carry the burden on his shoulder, being the people's voice.

For this, they were even more grateful for the person's care for them, seeing that he had put himself in an awkward position for various reasons.

The people felt guilty towards this person as well.

They knew that because of their actions, a rift would be formed between Uncle and Nephew… And maybe the Nephew would even hate and blame his uncle, thinking it was his uncle's idea.

But they, as the instigators, know it was not.

Torr Lockhart's action in doing the best he could for the village was all in their eyes.

Even when they secretly made their decisions, he tried to advise them to have patience and leniency against Wolfram.

This made them know that though Torr had a stern face, he was kinder at heart than they thought.

And thinking about it, he had always done his best for the village, with the men underneath his care doing exceptionally well in hunts, watch overs, and most village activities that dictate their survival.

Yes…

He was what Clovis village needed as a Leader!

And today, he was finally assisting them in calming down their uneasiness.

.

~Thump! Thump! Thump.~

The thundering footsteps of the villagers could be heard from all angles across the settlement.

A stampede?

If a person didn't know better, they would think it was a beast march instead.

Clovis village was indeed a large one with a little over 250 people residing in it.

The number could hardly go higher because of death always knocking on one's doors, whether from farming, drowning, hunting, poisoning, stray paladins and warriors, powerful merchants passing by, diseases, winter, and just beast or other village attacks too.

Towns could inhabit tens of thousands of people while cities could house hundreds of thousands to millions.

And at this moment, almost all the villagers were now marching down a hilly slope, making their way towards Wolfram's somewhat isolated surroundings.

He didn't always live there.

The village's most lavish and biggest home is that of the village chief's.

The property belonged to the village itself. So once a new village chief emerged, they could move in. Likewise, once a village chief dies, his family has to move out as well, unless the next village chief emerges from that same home too.

Thus, Ivo and Wolfram had left the lavish home, settling in their current one.

~Thump! Thump! Thump.~

The villagers were getting closer and closer.

And already, one could hear their boisterous complaints from a distance.

"No! Today, we must put an end to this!"

"Right! Even though I feel terrible for Wolf boy. we can't just forget it all as though it didn't happen in the first place!"

"Exactly! Last time, the assassin had a dagger on my throat! It's very clear that they want him, so why should the entire village get implicated because of him? Please! I want to live!"

"I agree! Who knows what sort of mess the boy has gotten himself into lately? Why do we all need to die for him?"

"You've taken the words right out of my mouth! The whole thing has a foul stench of evil written all over it. Whether it's the late village Chief who has enmities with someone from another village, or it's Wolf boy, there's no denying that now, he is targeted by some unknown people."

"Who knows… Maybe it's those same people that killed the Village Chief instead."

"That's what I'm thinking too. Maybe the late village chief had done something unspeakable… And you know what they say... There's no smoke without fire. So The late village chief must've offended them somehow for them to be so adamant in whipping out not only himself but his only child that can carry on his name."

"True. And from the looks of things, they still don't want Wolf boy to stay alive. So I don't want to wake up one night only to find my wife, daughter, and sons brutally killed in a crossfire because Who knows what… And that's why Wolf boy has to go!"

"Yeah! He has to go!"

"Go!"

"Leave!"

"Go and never return!"

The heated crowd rambled with worry, gathering more people the closer they got to Wolfram's desolate hut.

But though many people wanted Wolfram out, there were still quite a few who remained his firm supporters.

They were the late Cletus's most trusted followers, who also treated Wolfram as their leader.

And during this time, they always tried to be by his side, even after doing their village chores or finishing their private matters.

In particular, the family that supported him the most was the Nell Family!
