Mate

Blinking, I forced a smile.

"Are you okay?" I asked the boy with mesmerizing beautiful eyes.

His eyes were as blue as the sky. So clear and full of emotions.

The boy chuckled at that.

I felt like joining him in Laughing, but I couldn't do that even if I wanted to.

My ribs ache like no man's business.

"You're the one hurt among us, and you're still bothering to ask if I'm okay?" He asked with a brow raised at me.

His words made me slowly look around the bathroom.

It was completely deserted with none of my bullies present. "You got no wound? I thought...."

"The ones that got a beating aren't me." He smiled brightly. "This is yours," He placed my Locket in my hand.

I took the locket and placed it inside the pocket of my shirt.

Later, I'll wear it on my neck. Much much later when the wound finally heals.

"Thank you." I sniffed.

Seeing the locket made me feel more than okay. I thought I won't get to see this locket ever again, but this unfamiliar male made it possible.

Without the boy with beautiful eyes, I don't think he would have survived all this. The boy is a ray of sunshine, one that was sent by the creator when he saw others bullying me.

I might be feeling pain right now, but I don't care. The pain is nothing compared to the happiness I was feeling right now.

For years, I've not spoken to anyone as a friend. Not even my classmates at school want to have anything to do with me. They bully me any chance they get.

And this is one of the reasons I hate both the school and the orphanage.

I just can't wait for the day I will be free from this place.

"Can you stand?" The boy asked.

"Who are you?" I asked Instead.

I've not seen him before, and neither do I know who he is. He might be familiar with me, but that doesn't change the fact he's a stranger.

He tilted his head to the side with an amused smile on his face. "Are you worried I might be a kidnapper?" Asked the not who's not all that older than I am.

I scoffed at his words. "You might be a kidnapper, or whatever you want to call yourself, I don't care. All I want to know is the boy that saved me."

One that makes my heart skip a beat just from looking at me.

It was a feeling I'm not familiar with. Aside from fear and nerves, no other feelings make my heart beat as fast as it's now.

"I'm Mate." He smiled brightly.

"Mate?"

I've not heard of such a strange name before. "Is that your full name, or do you have another one?

He shrugged at my words. "That's the name I grew up with. I have no other name aside from my last name."

"Oh." I didn't bother telling him that's the same case with me.

I have only a name and a surname. A name my birth parents gave me. Obviously, they want me to answer the name they chose for me, and that was why they pinned my name on my clothes.

"And you, what might be your name?" He raised a brow at me.

"Laty." I smile at him.

"Laty? What an unusual cute name for a cute boy." He ruffles my hair a bit.

His words made me blush deeply.

My cheeks felt hot, and My heartbeat accelerated more.

"It's the name my birth parents gave to me." I look down in shyness.

"Why? You shy about the name?" He playfully punched me.

"Ahhh!" I shout in pain as I clutched to that part of my body.

I know the punch he gave me is a playful one, but that doesn't mean he didn't accidentally punch me in one of the numerous places I got beaten on.

"Are you hurt? Gosh, how can I forget you had a beating." Gently taking my arm in his, he helped me rise to my feet.

"Thank you." I smiled despite the pain. I don't want him to feel worried About me.

"Let's go."

"Where are we going?" I stop him from taking a step more. I need to know where he's taking me before I agree to follow him out.

Left to me, I would have waited for the pain out before going back to my room to slowly heal.

As Strange as it sounds, the wounds on my body don't scar, and they sure don't pain me for a long time.

The longest a wound has stayed on my body is three days, and after that, it completely disappears without a trace whatsoever. I guess this is one of the ways the creator is trying to make up to me for all the things I've endured.

This is his way of telling me he's still looking out for me despite the things happening around me.

"To the nurses' office of course. Where else do you think I'm taking you? To the bar?" He raises a questioning brow.

"No," I tightly clutch his hand. "Don't take me to the nurse's office. Take me back to my room, I have some medicines there."

Who said anything about medicines?

There's nothing like having medicine in that room, but I can't tell him that.

If he's to know, he might insist I visit the nurse, and that's just one thing I don't want in my entire life.

"Why's that? Why don't you want to go to the nurse's office?"

"I can't."

I don't want to be counselled for something I didn't do.

"Why? "

"They'll blame me for this wound. She'll say it's what I deserve, and that's not something I want to hear today."

"Don't you think the bullies should be punished? Not telling anyone means they go Scott free." He angrily balls his fist.

"It makes no difference should I report them. No one will believe me even when I try.

I've done that countless times till I found out nothing will move the way I want. If anything, it increases bullying. "

I've still not recovered from the one I got, I can't afford to piss them off by telling the teacher about them.
