Point of View

The udon has been devoured. Victor felt that his stomach felt so full that it was about to explode.

"I think the noodles are fluffy in my stomach," Victor said.

Ken burst into laughter.

"I think it is," Ken said. "It's delicious, right?"

Victor nodded. "I became curious about the true taste of udon in Japan."

Ken responded quickly, "Then you should travel there."

Victor immediately thought of the cost of traveling to Japan. Before he can set foot in Japan, he must have a passport, visa, and of course money to make a passport and later money to buy tickets, accommodation, and to travel to enjoy food in Japan. All of that costs money.

"All of that costs money," Ken said as if echoing Victor's words from his mind.

Victor laughed bitterly.

"I have to raise as much money as possible so I can eat Udon in Japan," Victor said sarcastically.

Ken burst into laughter.

"Then you will definitely be willing to do anything to earn money," Ken said.

Victor snorted.

Suddenly, Ken turned serious. "Then, are you ready to listen to my point of view on that sales strategy?"

Victor straightened. He nodded.

Ken stared at Victor intently. He evaluated the readiness of the young man in front of him. However, Ken thinks that whatever Victor decides is none of his business.

"The reason you ask like that is because you have been born in a family that thinks this kind of thing is the wrong way, right?"

Victor avoided Ken's gaze. He rubbed his lips.

"My family is quite religious," Victor replied.

"I understand your surroundings. Because it is also what shapes us. So, why did you join Falcon Face? Have you never heard rumors about this place in the village?"

Victor shook his head weakly.

Ken took a short breath.

"In that case, you are just in culture shock for a moment. In my opinion, if you have decided to go into sales marketing and become a successful person like the five percent of employees at Falcon Face then you will leave your old values."

Ken showed himself harder and harder as a senior.

"Because in order for you to be truly successful in an environment that's very different from the old one, you have to adjust to the new environment. If you hold on to old values that are very different from the new environment, you will be overwhelmed and will feel useless and other negative things will tend to enter your mind. It's dangerous."

Victor tensed at Ken's narration.

"The reason why Luis and Eka were able to get VIP clients in such a short time is because they don't consider their marketing strategy as something bad. They don't know the values you once knew. They have lived in such a world for a long time. Maybe since childhood, I don't know. However, judging from the way they relax with the lifestyle, it means that they have been used to it for a long time. And maybe even their parents had that kind of lifestyle."

Victor covered his mouth with one of his palms. He couldn't imagine how hard the lives of his two friends were.

"For you their life is hard, but for those who are used to it, it's just part of living life. This is a mindset, so if you want to be able to compete with them and even get better, you have to change your mindset. Just like I did. I accepted that lifestyle and left the old values of the environment in which I grew up."

Victor looked incredulous.

"That's reality. I became like a snake. I exfoliated the skin then left it and lived by new values. But, stick with the limitations. Minus sex. So far, VIP clients under my umbrella agree. They never attacked me. Instead they treated me with respect. Now, the question is what kind of marketing strategy do you want to maximize? Will you have limits or all out. All decisions have their consequences. If you go all out, there is a possibility that you will become a permanent employee with abundant sales results. If you don't and decide to make sales like I did, you might become a contract employee."

"And why did you decide to do the boundaries?"

"Because I prefer it that way. I don't want to sleep with everyone. Besides, I don't think that I will be faithful forever with Falcon Face. One day I might be interested in another place. Being a contract employee will be easier to resign. At the very least, we know when our contract will expire, so we can decide to extend or move elsewhere. Many Falcon Face contract employees make Falcon Face a stepping stone. You know for yourself, the sales marketing education here is very good, right. Many people dream of being able to experience the education system on Falcon Face."

"It's the same as them stealing knowledge from Falcon," Victor said. His heart was filled with uncertain feelings. He thought people would work with genuine feelings, but they weren't.

"They put forward pragmatism. Achieve personal gain," said Ken. He observed Victor with pity. He felt that Victor had entered a very wild wilderness. If Victor does not immediately turn into a hunter, he will soon die of starvation.

Ken let Victor ponder the information from him. Ken and Victor were both silent. Ken waited for Victor to say something.

They have been silent for a long time, and Victor has not opened his mouth. Ken didn't like the atmosphere between them. People come and go from the tavern. So, to change the awkward atmosphere, Ken decided something.

"Let's change places. I think there's still a lot we can talk about," Ken said softly.

Victor looked around and realized how long they had been inside the tavern. Victor agreed to move. Because Ken pays all the bills at the tavern, Victor becomes the one who pays for the drinks ordered at the café.

They both chose a hot americano and sat on a chair close to the window.

"It's my first time here," Ken said.

"Oh, really?"

Ken nodded.

"And you, do you come here often?"

Victor shook his head.

"This is the third time," Victor replied.

And they fell silent again. They sat like a blind date couple who met for the first time.

"Sorry, I'm quite confused by that lifestyle. You're right, I have to decide, to jump in completely or not," Victor said, breaking the ice.

"Yes, I already understand you and now I'm sorry for you for having to make such a big decision," Ken said.

Victor smiled meaninglessly.

Seeing that meaningless smile, Ken became more interested in talking about many things. He felt that talking to Victor could be a fun conversation. He wanted to prove his thoughts.

"I heard a rumor about our CEO, want to hear?"

"CEO? The successor to that third-generation Falcon Face?"

Ken nodded. "Have you heard rumors about him?"

"Rumors that he did anything to maintain the company, including sleeping with investors, I've heard," Victor said, a little unenthusiastic. "Are there any other rumors?"

Ken nodded, the look in his eyes saying that he had heard more rumors.

"What?" Victor became interested.

This happened because Victor was not eager to go home quickly. When alone, at this time he will tend to overthink. Hence, he decides to spend more time with Ken even though their conversation is meaningless.

"There are rumors that our CEO is in contact with demons in order to defend the company," Ken said.

Victor didn't expect that this crazy rumor would be heard by him.

"That's an exaggerated rumor," Victor said.

"You've never heard of demons?"

"In the village there are often oral stories that say the A did the magic with the snake demon to get rich. There are also those who stay with the Tiger demon so that they can be elected as village heads," Victor said, reluctantly.

Ken laughed.

"You must be between believing and not believing. So did I," Ken said.

Victor snorted, this is going to be a conversation full of nonsense.

"Our CEO is said to also believe in Astrologers. He was looking for someone who had dragon blood. He meant someone who had dragon blood flowing inside the person. It is said that that person will bring the blessings of seven derivatives, the company will never be short of money," Ken said.

"I kind of hear supernatural fantasy fiction now," Victor said, downplaying how serious Ken's statement was. He sipped Americano without living up to its taste.

"Our CEO's family is descended from Unicorns. Have you heard of that?" Ken is increasingly unconcerned that his story is considered fiction.

Victor burst into laughter at Ken's narration.

"Unicorn? That horned horse in that fictional Barbie story?"

Ken laughed along. His laughter was triggered by Victor's reference.

"Do you know about Barbie?"

"Sometimes television shows children's stories. Sometimes I enjoy it to entertain myself. Such light entertainment can ease the burden on the brain. Really," Victor said.

"You're right about the function of entertainment," Ken said.

"Where did this Unicorn rumor come from?"

Ken shook his head, "I don't know. I think it was all made up to warm up the atmosphere. I heard it for the first time when I was still gathering with seniors a lot. They often break the atmosphere with strange stories, often there are horror stories about the Falcon Face building."

"What kind of horror story?"

Ken got serious again.

"This story is about Falcon Face Boutique. You know that place, right?"

Victor nodded. Falcon Face Boutique is a boutique specializing in custom clothing.

"Their customers can order custom dresses at Falcon Face Boutique. There, customers can get special services from top designers. Only special people can work there," Victor replied.

Ken nodded. He warns Victor not to be influenced by the horror stories he will tell.
