Chapter 14: Sons of the Night

Hailey’s POV

Angus drives like a madman, wildly and without paying attention to the crossing lights. I feel reassured, to say the least, to know that the huge truck is so solid that even a train should fear a collision. On the other hand, I'm not particularly thrilled that he drives like that, but when I've told him about it, he's done nothing but laugh.

“Come on, Hales, the streets are empty!” he argues, with a crooked smile on his lips. “Besides, I'm an infallible detector of fines,” he argues, and I know what he means.

Even in their human form, wolves have much more developed senses than the rest. Smell, taste, touch... Everything is increased unrealistically and in unimaginable measures.

I've seen many of my friends go through this phase as they stop eating things that once fascinated them, but now possess flavors that are saturated for them; or the way they detect conversations taking place in the distance.
