OLIVER POV
I looked up at Rory and wondered if she had bought my story. I knew exactly what that being was, and I knew exactly why it had called her a wolf. I didn't, however, know where her wolves were or if the witch had anything to do with the missing wolves from her sanctuary. I felt terrible for lying to her, but I didn't know if she was ready for the truth. Plus, I didn't want to be the one to tell her she was a wolf. I felt like her mother had that responsibility since she clearly would have known.
But she was also my mate, unbeknownst to her, so I also had the duty to protect her at all costs. And I had failed that duty. What if something had happened to her? Theoretically, it would have been my fault since I was bound to protect her. I was seriously slacking, and now I was thrilled she didn't know any of this. She would be disappointed with how crappy of a mate I had been. She would be ashamed of me for sure.
