Chapter 2 Getting the Witness's Information

Five years later, at the International Airport.

Ice pulled Emily's sleeve with a bitter face.

"Mom, I'm so hungry. The food on the plane smells like trash."

Emily smoothed Ice's hair and said, "Honey, hold on. I'll take you to eat something delicious later."

She thought for a while and asked, "How about French food?"

Ice didn't hear Emily's words and was totally attracted by the man standing at the exit.

"Mom, is the uncle coming to pick us up?"

Emily followed Ice's gaze.

Albert stood there unwillingly with a gloomy face.

There was also an assistant with a board in hand.

Emily's name was on it.

Emily's face turned colder. She felt disgusted when she saw the arrogant face Albert.

"Nobody cares. You don't have to call him uncle from now on..."

As she was speaking, she lowered her head to look at her little daughter, only to find that Ice somehow broke away from her grip and ran away.

Emily broke out in a cold sweat.

She looked around in a hurry and found that Ice was squatting in front of a little boy. They were talking about something.

Emily breathed a sigh of relief and ran over in a hurry.

"Ice, you should tell mom when you leave me, okay?"

Ice nodded, "The little brother got lost."

Emily looked at the little boy squatting on the ground without saying a word.

When she saw the little boy's face clearly, her heart seemed to be pulled and beat wildly for no reason.

She couldn't help reaching out and touching the little boy's face.

"What, what's your name? Where are your parents?"

The little boy didn't say a word but snuggled up to Emily.

Emily was puzzled. Why did she have the same feeling that she treated Ice for a child she had only met once?

When she was about to hug the little boy.

A cold voice came over her head.

"Andy, who allows you to run around?"

Emily suddenly raised her head and saw a handsome man looking at her with an unfriendly look.

Emily couldn't take her eyes off him.

He was so dazzling that his appearance was not inferior to that of the famous movie star.

However, the aura around him was more potent, like solid Ice piercing into the water without waves, making people fear his power and ignore his appearance.

Emily took a step back silently. This man was not to be trifled with.

She knew him. He appeared in the original book.

The tycoon of the medical research industry, Auston·Cavendish.

It was said that his ancestor was a duke.

Maybe it was the same now. Emily couldn't remember it clearly.

Emily's soft body suddenly backed away. Andy was disappointed back to Alston.

Auston picked him up, nodded at Emily, and left.

Emily couldn't help but mumble. It was so impolite that he didn't even say thank you.

Ice said in a sweet voice, "Mom, I like that little brother. I think I have known him before."

"Mom, will we see each other again?"

Emily shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe."

She pulled Ice out of the airport, Andre waiting for them at the gate.

As for Albert, who had been waiting for a long time?

Well, who cared about him?

When Andre saw Emily came out, he hugged her excitedly.

He looked at Ice kindly. "We haven't seen each other for a long time. Ice has grown up."

Andre was the original Emily's friend.

Emily had never cut off contact with him. He was a loyal and reliable person.

"Yes, it has been five years. I thought I wouldn't come back."

In the past five years, she had been working in a medical research center in Switzerland.

She did the old business before she traveled into the book. It was more than enough to support herself and Ice.

But there was one thing that had always been bothering her.

How did her son die?

Emily had inquired about it after she settled down abroad.

But none of the people who had experienced that matter in the past could be found!

She had no choice but to ask Andre to investigate in secret.

"Get in the car first."

Andre started the car and said in a low voice, "I found one of the nurses who helped you to deliver that year."

The nurse was having a hard time. Her husband cheated on her and abused her.

She really needed money to start a new life.

As long as they paid a little money, it was not difficult to ask the nurse something.

Andre smiled at Ice, who was about to fall asleep.

"My mother has come to see me recently. She can help take care of Ice. Then we can go to find that nurse together."

When they arrived at Andre's home, Emily stayed in the car and asked Andre to carry Ice home.

She had a bad reputation because she got pregnant before marriage.

The old who knew Emily didn't like her.

Emily didn't think it was a big deal. A woman's virginity was not in her womb, and she didn't hurt anyone.

But she didn't want to put her friend in a dilemma.

When Andre came out, he saw Emily, who frowned tightly, looking at her phone.

"What's wrong? Uncle is forcing you again?"

Before Emily came back, Aldrich got her phone number from somewhere.

Aldrich said the first thing on the phone was to ask her who had disgraced the family. He urged her to get rid of the child as soon as possible.

Then she should get married to Albert.

Emily almost vomited when she heard this. She was in a bad mood for several days.

"No."

She smiled, "It's just about work."

Her assistant, Matia, sent an email to her. Cavendish's family invited her to work on a project.

Emily suddenly thought of the man she had seen at the airport.

No one likes a man like oneself...

Subconsciously, she didn't want to have anything to do with Auston·Cavendish.

"Let's go to the nurse's home now."

The nurse's name was Alma, and she lived in the City East.

It was not safe there. Most of the people living there were drug addicts or gangsters.

And there was also someone like Alma who had a hard life.

It was difficult for a car to get into the City East.

It was full of small paths.

Their car stopped at the street corner. Emily and Andre walked in.

Due to the poor sanitation, the dead mouse could even be seen in the ditch at the street corner.

A group of men with curly cigarettes and tattooed arms stood nearby, directly or indirectly eyeing them.

Andre stood in front of Emily and whispered, "Be careful. It's not safe here. Follow me closely."

Alma lived at No. twenty-eight. It was not difficult to find.

Because when they arrived, they found that many people were surrounded outside before the door.

Emily and Andre looked at each other, and both of the two had a bad feeling.

Emily hurried through the crowd and rushed in.

Alma was hanging on the beam. Her neck was almost broken, and she looked deathly pale.

Andre scolded in secret.

"Damn it! What the hell is going on?"

When he got the news a few days ago, everything was fine!

He had searched for so many years but only found one person. He didn't expect that the clue would be broken so soon.

Emily shook her head and pulled Andre out.

Was it a coincidence?

She didn't believe that the person looking forward to starting a new life would choose to commit suicide.
