Chapter 30 Some Daily Trifles

Andy's eyes widened instantly.

"Is aunt Emily telling the truth?"

Crying?

Auston was not the kind of person who would be related to tears!

"Wow!"

An emotionless exclamation sounded at the door.

Auston said in a cold voice, "As soon as I came in, I heard Miss Copper making up stories about me. It's really shocking."

Being caught on the spot for gossiping something, Emily had a deep understanding of what a social death was.

She chuckled awkwardly.

"It's just an exaggerating word. You should pay attention to the implication."

Perhaps Emily herself didn't know that she was much more lively than usual in front of Auston.

Ice was picked up at dinner time.

At such a young age, she didn't know what had happened.

Everyone was worried about Andy, but no one would show any bad expression to Ice.

Although Andy had suffered it instead of her.

But Ice also had a hard time in her heart.

Ice felt very guilty. If the two of them hadn't changed their clothes at that time, would nothing have happened to Andy?

But the one who suffered all would be her.

Sorry, Ice didn't think about it.

Andy touched Ice's face and said, "You don't look well. Do you want the Uncle Doctor to check on you?"

Ice gripped the corner of Andy's clothes tightly.

"No, I'm fine. I'm sorry. If we didn't..."

She stared at Andy, as if Andy would disappear in the blink of an eye.

Andy kindly let Ice grip him.

"Don't say that!"

In fact, he was quite happy that he could protect Ice.

But as soon as he said that, he had a violent cough.

Emily hurried to pat Andy's back.

"Would you like some hot soup?"

She didn't know whether it would work or not. She just felt that drinking some hot would make Andy feel better.

After a long while, Andy stopped.

He lay on the bed with flush in face.

Emily touched his forehead uneasily.

He had a fever.

"I'm fine."

Andy shook his head weakly.

"I don't want to eat anything, Aunt Emily."

Now he just felt that his body was burning and he could not swallow anything.

He felt a sharp pain in his chest.

Emily apprehensively tucked him with the blanket.

"Can you sleep for a while?"

She said to Ice, "Go out with mom and let Andy sleep."

"No!"

Ice wrapped her arms around Andy's neck and lay beside him obediently.

"I'll sleep with Andy. I promise I won't do anything!"

Andy didn't want Ice to leave either.

Emily had no choice but to nod and leave a night lamp for the two children. Then she stood up and went out.

Looking at her back, Andy was a little disappointed. Why was there no goodnight kiss tonight?

But there was no Emily's, but Ice's.

The little girl gave Andy a loud kiss on the cheek.

"Good night, Andy brother!"

"... Good night, Ice."

Emily closed the ward and saw Auston standing by the window to at the end of the corridor, embracing the wind.

She walked over slowly. When she got to the end, she found that Auston was holding a cigarette, but he didn't light it.

Seeing her come over, Auston asked, "Is Andy asleep?"

"En..."

Emily wanted to ask a lot of questions, but it was unnecessary to know because of her identity.

Most importantly, Auston didn't look like a friendly person.

She didn't dare to ask.

But if she didn't ask, she would feel suffocated.

So now she felt very uncomfortable.

It was Auston who noticed her awkwardness. Maybe it was because Andy was finally found and Auston was in a good mood, or maybe the moonlight outside the window was just appropriate.

"You are hesitating to do something. It's really awkward for you. If you have anything to say, just say it."

Sure enough, this man always spoke with sarcastic tongue.

"Andy coughed just now and looked very serious. Is he not in good health?"

Emily didn't hear Auston speak for a long time, just when Emily thought he wouldn't speak.

Auston replied in a low voice, "Not very good."

Then he explained.

"Something happened when he was born, which caused him to suffer a serious illness."

"... His blood, kidney, and heart are not very healthy. The doctor said that he would be hundreds of times more likely to suffer from cancer in the future."

It was a great miracle that Andy could live till now.

When he was one to three years old, his health was even worse than now.

He spent almost whole months in the hospital.

The shadow of death could be seen everywhere in Andy'.

Auston didn't dare.

Yes, he surprisingly used the word "dare not" on him.

He really didn't dare to put too much affection on Andy.

Although he didn't know how Andy came to his life.

However, when that little boy broke into Auston's life, how could he give up Andy so easily?

Auston was afraid that if he put too much affection on Andy, he would face the news of Andy's death too early.

When he realized how wrong the thought was, the situation was irreversible.

The way he got along with Andy became strange.

Auston could feel that Andy didn't like him very much.

But Andy liked a stranger very much.

Thinking of this, he snorted discontentedly.

Emily: ?

How did she offend this noble prince?

Why Auston acted like that!

Emily curled her lips. It didn't matter. She didn't care.

Because of the stupid Aldrich, she always felt guilty and short of breath in front of Auston.

"So, you spent a lot of money to develop a target drug for Andy?"

"Yes."

In this case, he had invested a lot in the early stage of the research, and the research result was almost zero. However, the project didn’t be canceled.

Was it true that Auston was willing to do charity?

"I see."

Emily said in a low voice, "I will try my best to finish it."

If it was for Andy, she was willing to do so.

Auston raised his eyebrows. "Do you want me to say thank you?"

"No, thanks."

Emily shrugged. "After all, you gave me money."

The next day, Andy's examination report came out.

The situation was not optimistic.

What had happened in the past ten days still affected his body.

When Auston had to go back to the company, Emily seemed to have grown up in a hospital.

She asked for a long leave from the lab and stayed by Andy's side every day without taking off her clothes.

Although Andy didn't feel well physically, he was very satisfied psychologically.

He had been sick since he was a baby, but the person accompanying him had always been the butler or the nanny.

But now, he was as happy as if he had a mother.

Emily handed the peeled apple to Andy and said, "Have an apple."

When she was about to ask the nurse to change the medicine for Andy, the boy said softly, "Auntie Emily, can you marry my father?"
