Lucas pretended to kiss her. Under the eyes of the crowd, she dodged and called in a hurry, "Honey."
"I didn't hear you. Call me again."
"You..." Ashley pouted and said, "Don't bully me like that."
"Honey, you are so cute." Lucas scooped her up and made her scream.
"Put me down!"
She patted his shoulder, but he suddenly stopped. She didn't know what he was looking at. Following his gaze, she saw that it was Jake and Kate walking towards the steps hand in hand.
Kate's face was stiff when she saw them, and then she quickly walked over with a mocking face.
"Wow, you are so worried, Ashley." Kate glanced at the marriage certificate in her hand, crossed her arms over her chest, and said, "No wonder you agreed to divorce with Jake so quickly."
Lucas put her down and was about to take her away. She shook her head, let go of his hand, and walked up to Kate.
"It's not as fast as you. I don't even know when you were together. But you just came to get the marriage certificate until now, and you don't have a good position in his heart."
"Stop talking nonsense! If it weren't for you"
She stopped talking and realized that she was trying to get her words. If she said it, then she would expose herself as a mistress who intervened in other people's marriage.
"Mr. Lucas."
Jake passed over Ashley to greet Lucas "So you like the things used by others. If you had told me earlier, maybe we wouldn't have made such a mess."
Hearing such insulting words, Ashley wanted to skin the wicked man alive. Lucas pinched her hand to calm her down.
"Mr. Jake, do you know the people around you have never been used? Or do you like to deceive yourself, just like you take no credit for the progress of the Jake group?"
"You!"
Being poked in the heart by Lucas, Jake was furious. Ashley appreciated his protection and didn't want to dirty his hand, so she took him away.
"Don't talk to such a loser."
They left, but Jake and Kate's mood was destroyed. The staff thought they were not consensual and repeatedly confirmed that they were willing to register for marriage until the photo time.
On the same day, Lucas asked people to move everything into the villa. Ashley was shy and uneasy.
"What are you doing?"
"Mrs. Lucas, have you ever seen a couple who separate after marriage?"
Ashley lowered her head and had nothing to say. This man was too good at taking chances. But now that they had got the marriage certificate, it was natural for him to move in.
"Martin, ask the moving company to put the things away."
"Yes, sir."
The moving company was so noisy that Lucas didn't want to disturb her. So he took her around and came back later.
It was cloudy today and the temperature was just right. They sat on the grass and chatted casually.
"Lucas, I think I'm dreaming."
Ashley looked up at the sky and recalled the experience of these months. She had almost experienced the most dramatic things of her life.
"It's not a dream. It's true."
"Thank you." Ashley leaned on his shoulder and said, "I know it's disappointed to say these words, but I still want to open my heart to you. You know that I've experienced a failed marriage, and I've never expected to enter into another marriage in such a short time. If you don't like me in the future, please tell me in advance, I will leave you."
Hearing her sad words, Lucas felt bad. He knew that although she had hidden the hurt brought by Jake, it did exist.
He held her tightly. He knew it's an unrealistic promise for her now, so he only answered her one word, "Okay."
Ashley smiled at him as if she had got something to settle her down.
"By the way, I'm almost recovered. I'm going to continue to deal with the business of the new company, or I won't have time when arranging for the wedding."
Lucas didn't want to agree. But when he heard that she was thinking about the wedding, he was happy and agreed.
"Okay, you can do whatever you want. But take care of yourself. I don't want to see you get tired."
"I will. It's not for myself, but for the baby and you."
"You know how to make me happy." He pinched her face and felt her true self.
Ashley began to work. The new company had settled down in the Azure Building and was recruiting new employees.
One day, she called Vicky and she answered it quickly.
"Mrs. Ashley?"
"It's me."
The person on the other end of the line quickly replied, "What can I do for you?"
After thinking for a while, she asked, "How are you doing in the Jake group recently? Did they make things difficult for you?"
She didn't ask Vicky to enter her company at first, because she knew her company couldn't be compared with the Jake group at the current stage.
"Everything is alright. Thank you for your concern, Mrs. Ashley. I'm back to my original position."
"Vicky, give me a cup of coffee. The temperature should be just right. Neither too cold nor too hot."
Ashley frowned when she heard someone ask Vicky to do something.
She knew Vicky might be conservative. How could the Jake group be good to her if they let her do such a thing?
"Vicky, I'm starting a business now. I want to ask if you are willing to come to my company. I can give you the best treatment and make sure you're satisfied. But it's just the beginning, and it will be a little tiring."
All of a sudden, there was no sound on the other end of the line. After a few seconds, Ashley heard the sobbing sound. "Thank you, Mrs. Ashley. I'm very willing to. Thank you."
She was also waiting but she was afraid that she was not qualified.
Ashley also laughed. "Okay, come to me after you leave the Jake group. I'll send you the address later and you will be my assistant."
"I will work hard and won't let you down!"
"I believe in your ability."
After hanging up the phone, Ashley was full of hope for the future. Everything was going well, which was good for her.
Vicky came to her company a few days later. When she saw her slightly swollen belly, she was surprised with her mouth wide open but asked nothing.
Ashley just smiled at her without any explanation. They knew each other.
"Mrs. Ashley, what can I do?" Vicky entered a working state soon.
"You can get familiar with the company first. I will give you the task next."
"Okay, Mrs. Ashley."
Vicky was still so energetic, which saved her a lot of trouble. Even Lucas regretted not hiring her to work in the Lucas group earlier.
