Chapter 19 The Turmoil in the Lucas Group

As soon as the plum rain season passed in April and May, the weather became hotter and hotter. The sultry atmosphere in the air made people unable to breathe.

Today was the new product launch of the Lucas group. This product had been studied for nearly three years and had always been the focus of the outside world. Martin was busy paying attention to the launch event.

The media was about to arrive and the venue had been arranged. The press conference would start as soon as the senior executives came onto the stage.

"Mr. Lucas, the press conference will begin in fifteen minutes. Here is your speech draft."

Martin handed over a draft to the media. The media had been ordered in advance for such a large-scale press conference, and they had prepared the questions and answers in advance. No accident was allowed.

He stood up, buttoned his suit, and nodded, "Let's go."

"Yes, sir."

There were a lot of people on the spot of the press conference. They heard the noise when they were still upstairs. Martin pressed the elevator button for Lucas to let him in first, but when he was about to follow him in, Luke took a step ahead of him.

"Thank you, Mr. Martin."

Martin twitched his mouth and said, "It's my pleasure."

There were four people in the elevator, including Lucas, Luke, and their assistants.

Lucas didn't intend to talk to Luke from beginning to end, but Luke didn't plan to keep silent all the time.

"Lucas, today's press conference is very important. You must have been well prepared. Grandpa turned on the TV to watch the live broadcast. Don't let him down."

Luke was used to mocking him. Lucas was used to it. Only the fact could slap him in the face. He didn't take it seriously.

"Martin, I haven't seen vice general manager Luke's name on the agenda. You haven't done your work well."

His words froze Luke's face, reminding him that he was not qualified to enter today's party at all.

Martin felt suffocated in the narrow space, but he still put the blame on himself and cooperated with Lucas.

"There is indeed no him on the agenda of the meeting. Maybe... Maybe I was negligent."

Hearing they sing in chorus with each other, Luke snorted, "You don't have to belittle me in secret. Grandpa asked me to today's press conference. The Lucas group is not yours alone, and grandpa is also strong. If you don't let me go, you have to ask him first if he agrees."

The elevator reached the floor where the venue is located. A cold light flashed in his eyes. The media had already arrived. Seeing him, they rushed up to him for interviews.

Lucas was surrounded by a group of people, and Luke took the opportunity to leave. He answered a few unimportant questions about the press conference and entered the venue, sitting in the front seat.

The press conference began soon. The host's long speech made the atmosphere warm up. Then, Lucas came onto the stage.

He was the first to put forward the concept of this product, so it was reasonable for him to answer the questions of the media.

He had memorized the speech and smoothly answered the media's questions. When he was about to end up, a reporter suddenly rushed to him.

"Mr. Lucas, there is another question. Do you have anything to say about the discussion about your private life recently?"

As soon as a reporter opened his mouth, other reporters also rushed over. "Mr. Lucas, is it true that you have stepped in the marriage of the CEO of the Jake group?"

Lucas didn't expect this. He cast a glance at Martin, but Martin was confused, too. They had discussed with the media in advance and made it clear what they should ask and what they shouldn't. Otherwise, it wouldn't cost a lot of public relations.

Of course, he knew that the best way to deal with this situation was to do nothing.

But when he looked around, he found that the venue was deliberately set in a zigzag shape. It was difficult to leave.

Under the stage, Luke looked at the chaos on the stage and laughed.

The press conference would be broadcast live on the Internet and TV. Seeing this scene at home, Lucas's grandpa was so angry that he fainted.

Ashley was in the company and knew that there was a press conference in the Lucas group today, but she didn't have time to watch it. It was Vicky to tell her what happened.

"Mrs. Ashley, is there something that happened to the Lucas group?"

"What's wrong?" Her heart seemed to be pricked. It didn't hurt, but she had a bad feeling.

"Please watch the latest live."

Vicky handed the phone to her. She looked at it roughly and thought, someone wants to mess up the press conference on purpose!

She put the target on Jake first. They fought at the gate of the civil affairs bureau not long ago. It was possible that the Jake family hated Lucas.

"Come with me to the press conference."

"Mrs. Ashley, I suggest you go to the Lucas group directly. Mr. Lucas may be back soon."

The live broadcast showed that the security guards had left the venue to protect Lucas Ashley picked up her bag and trotted downstairs regardless of anything else.

Under the protection of the security guards, Lucas went back to his office. He looked at Martin angrily. Although he didn't blame him, his meaning was self-evident.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Lucas. I didn't expect such a thing to happen. The media and staff have contacted in advance. I..."

Martin was an older staff of his company. He knew he wouldn't make such a stupid mistake, but he was still very angry!

"Ask the public relations department to deal with what happened today. I don't want any negative impact on the Internet!"

"Yes, sir!" Martin went out shivering.

Not long after, Ashley arrived at his company's gate. She was shocked by the document he suddenly threw at her.

"It's me."

Hearing the familiar voice, he looked up, rubbed his forehead, and pointed to the place in front of him.

"Why are you here? Have a seat."

"I saw the live broadcast." It was useless to comfort him at this time. Things had already happened. The only thing they could do was to find out the truth first.

"I'm sorry to get you involved."

He was talking about the questions raised by the media when they were making it hot for him. Ashley smiled and shook her head. She held his hand and gave him power just like he used to protect her in the past.

"Let me help you."

"You..." Lucas looked at her belly.

"Don't worry. I'm not going to fight with others. I'll be fine."

Lucas didn't speak, and Ashley continued, "Do you have the list of the media that attend the press conference today? We can investigate the media that make trouble one by one according to the list, and then find out the person behind them and make it public."

Her thoughts were very clear and it happened to be the same as Lucas'. He had already asked others to do it. But the biggest concern for him was that the stock market of the Lucas group plummeted.

"Okay."

"Actually... I have a suspect. I think Jake may have something to do with this." Ashley pursed her lips and said.

She felt guilty. Since they were together, there had been a lot of accidents. At first, Lucas's relationship with his family had been stiff because of her, and then something happened in the company. She felt sorry.

"He?" Lucas shook his head. "Not necessarily."
