Ashley opened her mouth but didn't know how to call them. It was impolite to call them by their names, but she couldn't call them grandma and parents. So she didn't say anything first.
Old Mrs. Johnson sat down on the chair beside the bed, and Ashley's parents stood behind her. They didn't dare to look at her directly. In comparison, old Mrs. Johnson was very kind to talk to her.
She pulled the corners of her mouth and said, "What do you want to say? I'm not a child, and you are not purely driven by emotions. It's what you should do to speak frankly."
Ashley's excessive calmness made old Mrs. Johnson's face stiff, and the wrinkles on her face were more obvious. Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Johnson frowned, and then criticized her.
"Don't you make your grandmother sad if you talk to her like this? Without her, it's a big deal whether you can get out of the operating room or not."
She raised her eyes. The person who spoke was her mother related by blood, but her words sounded like she wanted her to die.
"You are right. I wouldn't have ended up like this without the Johnson family."
It was impossible for her to accept it calmly after giving her a slap on the face.
"You naughty girl..."
Ashley's mother wanted to say something more but was stopped by her husband next to her. The man shook his head at her, indicating her not to say anything more.
Old Mrs. Johnson smiled helplessly and said, "Ashley, I'm sorry. It was the driver of the Johnson family who caused your car accident. We have fired him, but from another angle, we won't recognize each other without this matter. What do you think?"
Hearing this, she just wanted to laugh. She knew that the Johnson family was only a little weaker than the Lucas family. The Johnson family had another beloved daughter, Julia. Since she was lost, how could Julia replace her? And why hadn't they looked for her for so many years?
She used to yearn for family affection, but as she grew older, she almost lost it.
"So what do you want?"
Old Mrs. Johnson didn't expect that she didn't appreciate her kindness at all, so she was a little angry. It was the first time that she had been humiliated in front of a junior. She waved her hand and let her son and his wife come up behind her.
Just now, Ashley's mother yelled at her, so it was Ashley's father's turn to play comforts her.
He bent over with a kind look and said softly, afraid that any word would irritate her.
"Ashley, come back with us. Your mother and I will compensate you for the more than 20 years you have lost, as long as you go back with us."
Ashley sneered and didn't answer. Ashley's mother was anxious and said, "Ashley, you're married to Lucas and have his child. I heard that Lucas's grandfather hasn't admitted you because you don't have a strong family. As long as you go back to the Johnson family, the Lucas family will admit you."
Old Mrs. Johnson glared at her and thought she was too noisy. Wasn't it clear to make people misunderstand her at this time?
But what they didn't know was that Ashley had already known what they were up to. It's just talking to help her to gain recognition in the Lucas family, they just wanted to use her to hook up with the Lucas family.
The ward was quiet. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson sing a duet but didn't shake her. Their face suddenly pulled down, feeling that she was a little ungrateful.
Old Mrs. Johnson was so shrewd that she knew she couldn't push her too hard, so she stood up.
"Ashley, think it over. You just woke up and need a rest. We won't disturb you. We will come to see you next time."
Just as they were about to leave the ward, Ashley said abruptly with a little hoarse voice.
"I can go back to the Johnson family, but on one condition..."
Lucas came back at the right time. The look on Ashley's face was much better than when she just woke up. He took the porridge and dishes and opened them one by one. They smelt good.
"I have asked the doctor and he advised you to eat some liquid food. When you feel better, I will ask the cook to cook delicious dishes for you."
"Okay," Ashley said. She opened her mouth and ate the porridge that he scooped her. There was some other taste in her mouth. She had good taste and couldn't eat anything after eating a few mouth.
"Put it down. I can't eat it."
"Are you full?"
"Okay."
"Come on, wipe your mouth."
While Lucas was taking care of her, Ashley suddenly held his hand and said, "I promised them."
He paused for a moment and understood what she meant. He smiled and gently wiped the water stains from the corner of her mouth and adjusted the tilting angle of the bed to make her feel better.
"As long as you are happy, I will support you whatever you do."
"Do you trust me so much?" She fixed her eyes on him, trying to find something from his eyes.
However, he didn't. He only cared about her most sincerely.
"As long as it's you."
After saying that, they looked at each other and smiled, making Ashley more determined about what she was going to do next.
On the day of her discharge from the hospital, old Mrs. Johnson and Ashley's parents all came. Julia was along with them. The whole family went into the in-patient department neatly.
The hospital was surrounded by reporters. Ashley saw such a scene as soon as she came out. She kept calm on her face. They did the first thing she wanted.
Ashley's mother changed her cold attitude and walked out with her arm in arm. The harmony scene of a mother and a daughter was presented in front of everyone.
Behind her, Julia gritted her teeth. It was announced to the whole country that their daughter had come back. What about her?
She couldn't sit still and wait for death.
She held Ashley's arm from the other side and looked at Ashley's mother obediently. "Mom, let me help my sister. You are not in good health. I can do it."
It was just a show. Ashley's mother immediately let go of Ashley and walked with her husband.
"Look at Julia. She is so obedient."
She said this on purpose to let Ashley hear it. She knew it. She just put all her strength on Julia impolitely. Seeing that she was struggling, she sneered in her heart.
Before she was discharged from the hospital, she received a message from a stranger which said that she was not allowed to take anything from her. Now she thought it was without a doubt that it was Julia.
Sure enough, she took the opportunity to lean close to her ear, gnashed her teeth, and said, "Ashley, don't think that all this is done for you. If it weren't for the Lucas family, you would be nothing! I hope you can see your position as soon as possible, and don't try to fight for something that doesn't belong to you."
As soon as Julia finished her words, she knelt with her hands trembling and her face contorted in pain. A good show was about to begin
"Sister, I'm sorry. It's all my fault. I didn't hold you well. I..."
When she squeezed out a few tears, Ashley's parents immediately hugged her, comforted her in a gentle voice, and took a complaining look at Ashley.
She didn't feel warm in her heart, so she wouldn't feel cold. What she wanted was just an identity. She didn't take Julia's trick seriously.
"Ashley, are you okay?"
Lucas rushed to her and held her arm. His heart ached.
