Chapter 39 Guilty

"Lily, I want to sleep."

Ashley closed her eyes and didn't want to say anything to Julia. This woman was probably here to laugh at her. There was no point in talking more.

"Okay, I'll let them out." With a cold face, Lily was about to drive them out. But before she could take a step forward, she was interrupted by Julia.

"Ashley, why are you still sleeping? To save you, Lucas is still in a coma. You..."

"What did you say?"

Ashley got up from the bed suddenly. She felt a sharp pain in her chest and her throat seemed to be blocked by something. She looked at Lily with red eyes.

"Lily, is what she said true?"

After swallowing, she immediately went over and pushed away Julia and Luke.

"Get out of here. We don't welcome evil people!"

With a bang, Lily closed the door. She felt so sorry for Ashley when she saw her.

"Lily, tell me. I want to know!"

It seemed that Ashley roared with all her strength. Her face turned pale. Lily was frightened and hurried to help her.

"Ashley, now that things have come to this, it's useless for you to ask so many questions. I heard from Bruce that Lucas told you to live on the last second before his coma. Don't let him down."

As soon as she finished her words, Ashley burst into tears. It was all her fault. She was depressed after losing her baby and was hurt by that vicious woman, Kate. Otherwise, she wouldn't have ended up like this.

Her heart ached and she passed out crying.

Outside the door, Luke stared at Julia. When she was about to leave the ward, he said, "Miss Julia, let's find a place to sit and have a talk."

"Mr. Luke, we have nothing to talk about."

"Really? What about the warehouse?"

Luke stopped at the right time. His words made her face pale. She blurted out, "How did you know?"

"If you don't want others to know, you have to keep it a secret. I have already known it, but I haven't exposed it to the public. Guess why?"

The expression on Julia's face changed again and again. Although Luke wanted to threaten her with this matter, she had to go since she had something on him.

"Okay, let's go to the coffee shop outside the hospital."

"Okay."

They came to the coffee shop and sat down. Outside the cafe, car after a car sped by with the smell of moisture after the rain. But it made her almost out of breath. She had done everything well, and she had dealt with Kate. How could Luke find that?

"You thought your plan was flawless, but what you don't know is that you've left a hole. As long as I had the heart to investigate, I could find everything."

Luke stirred the coffee gently. The sound of the spoon colliding with the coffee cup made her heart tremble. She stared at him blankly.

"So what do you want to do?"

"I don't want to do anything. I just want to make a deal with you, which is sure to make money for you."

Julia didn't believe that he would be so kind. Instead of answering him, she thought for a long time until she realized that there was no way back.

"Tell me."

"I can help you get Lucas. But during this period, you have to help me crush my grandpa and let me take control of the Lucas group."

Her pupils trembled. She didn't know much about Luke. She was shocked when she heard about his ambition for the first time, but it seemed normal after thinking about it. Life was only about money and sex. She gritted her teeth.

"That's all?"

"That's all. What do you think? Is it worth it?"

Julia bit her lower lip and began to think about it. Just as he said if so, it would do her no harm. But the problem was that she didn't know what kind of person he was, and who knew if he would betray her.

"Miss Julia, do you still think you have other choices? Don't forget that the police are also investigating."

She was shocked and had to agree.

"Okay, I promise. But about the warehouse..."

"Don't worry. I'll handle it. You just need to pretend that you know nothing and try to win my grandpa's favor. What's more, ask the Johnson family to pay more attention to Ashley."

"Why?"

The last thing she was not willing to do. She didn't want to let the Johnson family go.

But what Luke said next made her speechless.

"It's all your fault. Ashley knows that Lucas saved her, she must love him more. Isn't it reasonable to use family affection to dilute love now?"

That made sense. She was confident that her position in the Johnson family wouldn't be replaced by Ashley so easily.

"Okay, I will do it. I hope you will keep your word."

"Of course, wish us a pleasant cooperation!"

"Wish us a pleasant cooperation."

The first thing Ashley did after she got out of bed was to see Lucas. But he was still in the intensive care unit, so she was not allowed to get close to him.

The Lucas family took good care of him and Lucas's grandpa ordered her not to see him.

She felt very painful. It was all her fault. Without seeing Lucas, she felt more and more guilty and she almost can't breathe.

One day, when she went to the ward, she happened to meet Lucas's grandpa coming out. She wanted to turn around and leave but was stopped by him.

"Miss Ashley, let's talk."

Lucas's grandpa's words were undoubted, and she nodded in agreement.

He came straight to the point without any courtesies, "Miss Ashley, I don't want you to get close to Lucas again. You have done a lot of harm to him. The doctor said that he might not wake up. I won't let a dangerous woman like you stay with him. It's okay if you say I am confused and superstitious. I think you two are not right for each other."

Every word hit her heart. She opened her mouth, her hand on the table sank tightly.

Lucas's grandpa saw through her and interrupted her, "Before you completely draw a clear line with him, I allow you to say goodbye to him. We will pay for your medical expenses. After you recover, you should leave the hospital and never appear again. If you can do it, everyone will naturally be fine. If you can't do it, then don't blame me for using other methods. At that time, it will also hurt Lucas for the second time. Do you have the heart to do that?"

It was his first time talking so much to a junior. Hearing what he said, Ashley didn't know how to answer. She was stunned and couldn't even find a word to refute.

It was sunny after the rain. The sunlight reflected in the puddles on the ground, as transparent as tears, reflecting her pale face.

The wide hospital gown was filled with wind, making her body larger. She felt that she was about to float up, without any sense of reality.

After a long silence, she replied with difficulty, "Okay."
