Chapter 41 Memory Loss

Ashley was speechless. She had always been dull in love affairs. She slowly fell in love with Jake was because he was always good to her.

Lily was right. This failed relationship made her unable to face her relationship with Lucas. It was time for her to change.

"Lily, thank you. I'll think it over."

"Ashley, you have to remember that love is subjective, and your happiness is the most important."

The fire made Ashley see her heart. She did not hide her love anymore.

Every day, she went to see him outside his ward for a while. Although at this time, Julia would come to see him as if she was swaggering. But she was no longer angry.

She believed that the first person Lucas wanted to see after he woke up would be her. Everything Julia had done was in vain.

However, was that the truth?

It was midnight when Lucas woke up. The doctors and nurses were all alarmed. Lucas's grandpa rushed over from his house, but no one informed Ashley. She heard the noise and guessed what had happened before she went to see him.

The doctor was doing a check-up for Lucas. The Lucas family members were overjoyed and waited until he woke up.

Since Lucas's grandpa was there, Ashley could only take a look at him from a distance. She didn't want to cause any trouble.

"Doctor, how is he?"

"Not bad. I haven't found anything else for the time being. You can let one or two people in to talk to him."

"I'll go." There was no doubt that Lucas's grandpa was the one who would be selected. He took Luke in.

Ashley's heart sank, but she couldn't help but feel happy for him. He finally woke up.

In the ward, the ticking sound of the medical equipment was covered by Lucas's grandpa's voice. He held Lucas's hand carefully and asked him kindly.

"Lucas, are you feeling better? You finally wake up. You..."

"Where are we? Who are you?"

He pulled his hand out of his grandpa's. His eyes were full of resistance to strangers. Luke raised his eyebrows and thought. "It's interesting." He thought.

"Grandpa, let me ask him."

To prove his guess, Luke looked at him with concern.

"Lucas, I'm your brother. Don't you remember?"

"My brother?" He frowned and shook his head. "I'm sorry. I don't remember anything. Are you my family? How did I get into the hospital? My head hurts."

He tried his best to recall something, but his head ached so much that he almost had no strength. Lucas's grandpa hurried to call the doctor in.

"What's wrong, Mr. Lucas? What's wrong with you?"

"Headache, my head is hurt."

His brows furrowed. The doctor gave him a check-up and told the nurse to calm him down and let his family members go out.

"Doctor, what's going on? When Lucas woke up, he didn't know us. He..."

"Grandpa, don't worry. I've told you before that Mr. Lucas's head were injured. There was a blood clot in his brain, which might lead to complications. Perhaps, the loss of memory is caused by the blood clot in his brain. He will recover after the blood clot disappears."

Lucas's grandpa nodded, but he was still worried. He asked, "How long will this situation continue? Can't the blood clot be removed surgically?"

"Mr. Lucas's situation is not stable now. If we rashly operate, it will only lead to the opposite result. Moreover, you have emphasized that you should keep his life that day, so we dare not operate randomly."

Now that the doctor had said so, Lucas's grandpa had nothing to say. At least, he could save Lucas's life. He sighed.

"Forget it. It's all about fate. As long as he's still alive."

"Yes, Grandpa. At least he is fine now. After he loses his memory, we can tell him what happened in the future."

Hearing Luke's words, Lucas's grandpa thought it might not be a bad thing.

"It doesn't matter whether it's a good thing or not. As long as he's fine."

Ashley didn't hear everything. She tried her best to piece together a general idea of losing memory. It seemed that Lucas's life wasn't in danger, which was also good news.

Thinking of this, she didn't want to stay here any longer. Tomorrow she would go to talk to Lucas's grandpa about her meeting with Lucas. She needed to go back and have a good rest.

As soon as she left, Julia ran over. Her face flushed with anxiety, and her worry was just right.

"Grandpa, I heard that Lucas woke up. Where is he now?"

Lucas's grandpa looked at Luke next to him and said, "Luke, you tell Miss Julia. I'm tired. I'll go back to have a rest first."

"Okay, I will explain to Miss Julia, Grandpa," Luke said respectfully.

Julia looked at Luke questioningly and asked him what was going on with her eyes.

But he pulled her to a quiet place.

"Luke, what happened?"

"He woke up, but he lost his memory."

"Has he lost his memory?" Julia cried out in shock.

Luke immediately covered her mouth and said, "Keep it down. This is the hospital!"

"OK." Julia adjusted her mood and lowered her voice, "Make it clear, what memory loss? Didn't you promise to help me?"

"Don't worry. He has lost his memory and forgotten everyone. Isn't it good for you?"

He didn't make it clear. After thinking for a while with a frown, her eyes suddenly lit up.

"You mean..."

"That's good. It's not a good idea to make it clear. What do you think?"

Julia smiled. Even God was helping her. She suddenly felt relieved.

"Okay, I trust you. What should I do now?"

"Let's go back first. Lucas has just calmed down. It's useless for you to go there. There will be good news tomorrow."

She began to imagine that she would marry into the Lucas family. She didn't think too much and nodded repeatedly.

"Okay, I'll wait."

After getting rid of Julia, Luke hurried back to the Lucas family. As expected, his grandpa didn't fall asleep and waited in the living room.

"You're back. Have a seat."

It seemed that he had something to talk to him. Luke's eyes flashed, and he walked over.

"Grandpa, are you still awake?"

"It's not a good thing that Lucas has lost his memory. You said it might not be a bad thing in the hospital just now. Tell me what you think."

Luke raised the corners of his mouth. He sat down and expressed his thoughts in detail.

"Grandpa, it's a simple thing. Losing memory means a new start. You can fill his memory. He can remember whatever you want him to remember, right?"

Lucas's grandpa thought it made sense and signaled him to go on.
