A Reckless Fool

"Devote twenty percent power to the shields and forty into the Myrion blade." Slate said as he and the Kumara unit stared one another down, sizing each other up.

~What? Forty percent? Are you mad?~ Indra asked, ~You will blow off your arm.~

"Just, please, trust me." Slate said, "I have this planned out."

~Fine, don't come crying when things go haywire.~

Slate jumped backwards, Indra propelling itself away from Kumara as the Myrion cannon formed on his arm and he pointed it at the enemy unit. But Slate could not track Kumara's movements, he was far too fast, and he seemed to fade into a mist of red light, then reappear above Indra.

Slate attempted to shift the cannon upwards to shoot it at Kumara, but the enemy was too fast and he crashed his foot down on the cannon, pinning it to the earth which shook violently and exploded open as a burst of Myrion energy blasted into the street, ripping it open and leaving a deep crater in the ground.

Kumara raised his hand, red energy gathering into his palm before shooting out, slamming into Indra and sending a jolt of pain through Slate as he flew across the street, slamming into a wall.

As Slate forced himself to his feet once more, Kumara raised his hands, two plates in his upper torso shifting up and releasing red Myrion particles which began to shift around in a haze before they formed into dozens of spears hovering above his head, all directed at Indra.

"That cannot be very good." Slate said.

~And you would be correct, because it is not.~ Indra said. ~When do you plan on releasing the energy gathered into your arm?~

Slate glanced down at his forearm. Steam was rolling up from it and pain was shooting through his entire arm.

"Don't worry, soon." He said.

Kumara lowered his hands, the spears all shooting towards Indra at once. Slate boosted his thrusters, exploding up into the air above them as they crashed to the earth, plunging into the ground like needles into hot butter.

"Hah, that wasn't too hard."

*KOOM*

The earth suddenly burst open in red light, each of the spikes having been explosives with a delayed burst.

Slate groaned in pain as his frame was sent spiraling through the air. Kumara leapt from the ground, catching Slate by the leg before spinning him around and throwing him to the ground. When Indra crashed to the ground, Kumara slammed on top of him, the impact pressing Slate's body inwards as a deep crater was forced into the earth, the buildings around them crumbling and breaking away from the force of the shockwave.

"What the hell is this guy..?" Slate asked in disbelief.

~Experienced, unlike you.~

"Fair enough."

Kumara reared back his fist to bring down on Slate like a sledge hammer, but Slate hooked his leg around Kumara's knee and twisted, pulling himself out from under the enemy unit while pushing him down by putting weight in the back of his knee and grabbing his head, slamming it into the ground. Kumara quickly recovered, disappearing in a flash of red light and reappearing above Indra, backhanding him, but Slate leaned back, the attack just barely clicking against his helm. He then clenched his fist and grinned, although, you couldn't see him grin since he was a machine, but he still felt himself do the action. At least in his mind.

As the Indra fell backwards away from Kumara, Slate released the Myrion blade, slashing it downwards towards Kumara. An intense blast of gold light exploded from the blade as his arm shook from the force of the attack, the energy blade crashing forward in a brilliant attack of divine power, severing the earth open, leaving a deep cut gouged into the land which shook violently.

Kumara pushed itself away from the attack, but the sheer force of the blast had sent him sprawling through the air and crashing through a wall.

Indra slammed to the ground on its back, it's arm hissing as steam rolled up from it, the energy blade now gone. Alarms blared in Slate's mind, declaring that his arm was overheated and no longer functional, at least for the time being.

~Impressive. I cannot say I was expecting that, but now we should really leave. While he is down.~ Indra stated.

"Tch! Fine. You are probably right, doubt I could fight with my arm like this."

~Yes. Though, I must say, even if it was sloppy, you did not do terribly.~

Slate turned up his thrusters, expecting bolt through the air, but Kumara teleported above him, his hands clasped together as he brought them down on Indra's head, crushing him beneath the attack as red energy exploded outwards.

Again, the alarms began to blare annoyingly and incessantly in Slate's mind.

"The hell..? Can he literally teleport?" Slate asked. His knees were buckled beneath him as he pressed back against the force of his enemy's attack, his thrusters at full power, melting the ground behind him.

~I am not sure. I have almost no data on the Kumara unit. The shields cannot sustain such damage much longer. We must retreat.~

"I'm trying!"

The earth began to give way beneath Indra's feat, creating a deeper and deeper crater from the power of Kumara's attack.

"Damnit!!!" Slate roared.

~Now activating: system boot-up, Indra Thunder Overdrive.~

"What?"

Suddenly, golden bursts of Myrion resembling bolts of lighting began to shoot out from Indra, parts of its body shifting and exposing glowing patterns over his body that gave off immense amounts of energy.

"What is this?! Why the hell didn't you do this sooner?!" Slate exclaimed. Suddenly Kumara's attack didn't seem as strong as it had before and Indra began to overpower him, pushing him back. Then, Slate clasped onto Kumara's arm, twisting to the side, he threw the enemy unit to the ground, then slammed his foot down on his chest, bolts of golden energy exploding from his body.

Slate held out his hand, metal plates folding forward and spinning around his forearm, faster and faster. Bolts of lightning shot out from his arm in violent bursts and then…
