Chapter 26: The Interruption

“The reason I didn’t pressure you was because I wanted you to decide on your own, that we were meant to be together. I would never want to force you into anything. I hope that didn’t make you feel as if I didn’t care, because I've never cared about anyone the way I care about you. Zoe, I’ve fallen in love with you,” Dylan said, stroking her hair as they lay in bed.

As he said those words, she knew she felt the same. That was why she was unable to think of anyone or anything else the entire time she was with Kyle.

It had always been Dylan, and even though she had spent time with Kyle it had in no way affected what she and Dylan were building together.

“I love you, Dylan,” Zoe said, in response.

She had so much more to say, but she wanted to save it for dinner tonight. They only had a short while to continue lying here together before they would have to leave.

As she pressed her head against his chest, that’s when she heard someone knocking at the front door.
