Home at Last

Hong Gi dropped their bags inside the door and took a long, cleansing breath. It felt like he had been gone forever. So much had happened, and now he wondered how well he knew Steph. He still felt hurt that she'd tried to face the latest attack alone. Granted, she was trying to protect him, but he didn't want protection. He wanted her unconditional love and trust. He wanted to be the one to protect her.

Now it felt like he needed to keep her within sight. He was willing to do just that, but he didn't see Steph putting up with being treated like a caged animal for long. Then again, he doubted he'd be attracted to any woman who would put up with it.
