The Morning After

Lexi stared at the red nail polish on her toes as the morning light filtered through the tree outside the window. The sunlight danced with the shadows over her skin as a gentle breeze rustled the leaves. Her thoughts fluttered through her mind like the shadows and light on her feet.

It was  time to go home. She was so ready to sleep in her own bed. At the same time, these last few days with Mark were amazing, but he was as much a temporary fixture in her mind as the memory of what she had for dinner the night before. There was no way he would be waiting for her when she graduated no matter what he said.
