Wild Blue Yonder

Lexy bumped into yet another stranger as she strolled through the airport with her head down and her thoughts in a fog of conflict. Running out on Mark without saying goodbye wasn't her. Only it was. Her thoughts flashed through a number of guys she had run out on. She couldn't remember how many guys had spent the night buying her drinks and dancing with her only for Lexy to excuse herself to go to the restroom and never return. She probably knew every exit in every bar in her hometown and around the university campus. She had done the same thing to Mark.

Mark and Abi had taken her into their home even though she was practically a stranger. This was how she repaid their kindness. It wasn't cool. If she had any shame at all, she would turn around and go back to apologize and make it right or at least call. Lexy had to admit the shame was  there but not the courage to go back. Besides, she reasoned, it was better this way. A bitter ending dampened the desire to meet again.
