FILE.29

Rosie would have started laughing if it weren't for Cedric's expression of fury. Her laughter was only going to add fuel to his expression.

She was suddenly tired.

So tired.

She hadn't slept soundly since the break-in, had barely slept at all since realizing the truth about the intruder.

Rosie almost wished Cedric had kept the truth to himself. She shouldn't have pushed for honesty. Should have just kept silent. Because why her? Why did it have to her? She'd live a fairly good life, hadn't she? She never made enemies. Never deliberately hurt other people. Why was the universe punishing her like this? Why was her life suddenly becoming so difficult?

"Rosie?"

Rosie drew in a shaky gasp.

Cedric was worriedly staring at her. She hadn't realized she'd been lost in dark, frustrating thoughts.

"I know it's difficult to take in but I promise you you'll be safe. We'll take care of you."
