"So you're dating Cedric."

It wasn't a question. It was a statement.

A statement that made Rosie's blood boil again.

"It's a long story, Aiden," she muttered angrily into her phone as her fingers flew over her keyboard. "A long and complicated story."

A soft chuckle, then, "It didn't sound so complicated when he explained it."

Her fingers stopped moving. Her heart started to flutter and she was not certain it was the good kind of flutter or the bad kind.

"And how exactly did he explain it?"

"Maybe it's better I don't tell you."

Bad flutter, she was now sure.

"How, Aiden?"

"I better let you go now. You're still at work, right?"

Rosie sat back on her chair and glanced around the room. Most of the people, including Jenny and Cindy, were so busy with work that it didn't permit a break or a smile or two. She hunched over her desk again and began to hiss.
