Chapter Nine

At School.

Lara sat behind her seat, as always. She didn’t say a word to anyone since morning.

“Good morning, students,” Ms. Narwin said.

“Good morning, ma’am,” the students spoke in unison.

"Today I have two news, a good and a bad news." Ms. Narwin said.

"What's the bad news." Leah asked.

Lara noted that Isabelle wasn’t in school today. She was about to ask when the teacher started speaking.

“Isabelle fell sick, so she can’t be in school, she will be back when she recovers, and the project will be presented when she gets back." Ms. Narwin said.

"And the good news." Leah asked.

"Today, we have a new student.” Ms. Narwin pointed at the girl beside her. Beaming life filled into the girl’s hazel eyes and her rich brown curly hair surrounded the base of her neck, she stood silently with a smile on her face.

“This is Lara Jackson, she came all the way from Texas and she won Ms. Texas this year.” Ms. Narwin said.

"Wow that's cool." Leah said to Ms. Narwin.
