Baron Romero's Troubles (3)

A sword made by Roman.

He did not believe what Roman said, no he couldn't believe it.

"Are you telling me to believe in, what you had said now Roman? The person you are dealing with now is the Dmitry Master Blacksmith. I has dealt with iron all my life in this land, so I can find out whether the opponent is an blacksmith or not without having to check the facts. Still, you're making fun of me. The rumors that Roman Dmitry had changed were all lies."

He was angry due to Roman response.

He didn't even need to be confirmed the truth, long ago Roman had visited blacksmith's to learn blacksmithing.

At that time Roman actions where completely messed up, starting with the hammering, and he didn't even show an attitude of someone who wants to learn, which made Hendrick angry everytime he see Roman.

After few days, Roman never set foot in the smithy.

Even though there is a separate blacksmith's forge for the Dmitry family in the inner city, he did not think that Roman Dmitry, who lost his duty as a successor of Dmitry and was indulge pleasure, would grown up as a blacksmith.

The sword in front of him was very extraordinary.

The person who made this sword is very skilled in handling iron, how to handle mana in the sword and skill of blacksmith who made this sword is superior from Hendrick.

Thus, it couldn't have been forged by Roman. And seeing him blatantly lying, Hendrick's anger rose even more. However at that moment.

"Master Hendrick."

He heard Roman's calm voice.

As if understanding the other person's reaction, Roman Looked straight into Hendrick's eyes, he said in a tone that didn't waver.

"I fully understand why the Master Hendrick reacts that way. A blacksmith's skill, cannot be honed in a mere day or two, and if I had shown my hard work in the forge, certainly you would have believed me. Nevertheless, what I said is the truth. This sword name is Salamander, it is named after the continent, is the only sword that has been made by me."

'This kid is really....!' Hendrick's face glowed red. And just as he was about to hit Roman, who was making fun of him, he was stunned by Roman's following words.

"I will show you. How I made my sword. From the perspective of Master Blacksmith, who represents the Dmitry family, wouldn't one action convey the truth rather than a hundred words?"

"....!?"

A hundred words are useless when it's you-That was what Roman was saying.

Hendrick's face flushed with embarrassment, however he eventually moved toward the forge with Roman.

While going to the forge, Roman said to Hendrick

"I forged a sword for myself that I would entrust my life, whenever there was a significant battle. It is a sword that could fully utilize my abilities considering my current physical strength and matched the Aura I manifested. That was how Salamander was born. While preparing for the war with Barco, I decided that I needed a new sword, and I faced the furnace's in the forge and struck steel and iron countless times. At that time, the forge felt like a sanctuary. I could not stop striking it until the story between me and the iron had come to a conclusion. I think Master Hendrick knows that feeling very well."

" ..."

But Hendrick didn't reply him back, silence was the only answer he got along with a face full of dissatisfaction.

Hendrick followed him along to see him work in the forge, but he didn't like how Roman was empathizing with the feelings of a blacksmith. To Hendrick, Roman wasn't a blacksmith. He never showed any sign to begin with, so how could he trust him with just a single result?

Nevertheless, not caring how Hendrick reacted, Roman didn't stop speaking.

"I have to carry out my military duty in the future. I have been constantly improving, so I recently started making swords to replace the Salamander. What I want to show Master Hendrick is the process of making that sword. If you do not believe it even after seeing it for yourself, then I will humbly accept it, even if you report it to my father and impose punishment."

After walking for few minutes they arrived in the forge.

Roman prepared to work, actually there was nothing special to prepare, because he lived in the blacksmith forge every evening, the environment in which Roman was working is perfect for him.

Roman took off his top to fully embrace the fire from the furnace.

Hendrik's expression was horribly distorted for a moment at the behavior of Roman.

'As a blacksmith, you don't even know the basics.'

In his heart he wanted to turn around and leave right away.

He didn't want to see any more.

It was safe to say that the craftsman who didn't even equipe the safety equipment, did not have the attitude of a blacksmith.

When all this thought was going inside Hendrick mind.

Fire was lit in the furnace and only at that moment when Roman struck the steel with the hammer, Hendrick's expression changed.

Kaang!

It was a strong metal ringing sound, muscles on the Roman body had suddenly swelled up. And while Roman struck the iron earnestly with his hammer, Hendrick couldn't help but keep looking at him with a dumbfounded expression.

'The way blacksmiths handle iron in this world and the way Murim's blacksmiths handle iron are quite different. This world's blacksmiths are not able to handle the mana in the item and focus there attention on the strength of the item, and on the other hand, Moorim's blacksmiths only prioritize the smooth operation of qi. A sword that amplifies the efficiency of the qi to the maximum, and the excellent quality of sword are name which then it come in the list of famous sword in Moorim, and I made countless of them, which helped me while I was conquering Moorim."

The point that Hendrick admired high mana reactivity of the sword is Moorim's technique.

And even in Moorim, Baek Joong-hyuk was called Master craftsman and one of the greatest in the Moorim.

Baek Jung-hyuk's sword where consider best treasure of Moorim, and such person had made the sword 'Salamander' in this new world.

Kaang!

Kang!

Sound of hamer knocking on steel rang in the smithy.

Fire burned in the furnace, and it turned Roman skin red. Nevertheless Roman accepted the fire as it was. He considered the process of making a sword as a part of training. He was making a sword as well as he was traning his body.

From now onward, as he told Hendrick before coming to smithy, he would have to go into various battles, and he didn't have much time to train. He didn't know what all would happen on the battlefield, but there was one thing Roman was sure of in his life.

'Even in the battlefield I will reign and live.'

In this 3 months, Roman was going to put a lot of effort into making a new sword.

And when the sword is complete, he will go to the battlefield on behalf of the Dmitry family.

While Roman was making sword he had completely forgotten Hendrick was standing there, forgetting the clutter, he was completely focused only on making the sword.

It was like Roman was in a state of trance And he was completely absorbed in making the sword.

'Is this what it feels like to be out of breath?'

While Looking at Roman's face, Hendrick was completely stunned.

Kaang!

Kang!

' Unbelievable.'

He is knowns as a Master Blacksmith for a reason and He had an eye for recognizing blacksmith, as he told Roman before.

But when he saw Roman pounding on steel without a single distraction in his work, his common sense started to collapse.

'Is this Roman Dmitry?'

Hendrick couldn't believe it.

Roman, which Hendrick had experienced before, clearly had no interest in the forge and blacksmithing, but his current attitude towards handling the stell and the sound of hammering were clearly those of a skilled blacksmith.

It wasn't just that, the point that completely fascinated Hendrick was his unshakable posture even when he faced the heat of the fire from the furnace.

Roman skin turned red due to the heat from the frunace, it would have been unbearable because it was so hot, but Roman did not take his eyes off steel as if he had fallen in love with Steel.

Roman continued to hit the steel.

once.

twice.

third time, fourth times.

His muscles trembled as if they were about to explode.

As if striking the hammer was a beautiful rhyme, the constant speed was like a maestro conducting music.

"This is it."

[ Hendrick was now certain, Roman was a master craftsman.

Clearly his common sense told him that this was impossible, but the scene unfolding right before his eyes proved an undeniable reality to him. ]

Hendrick thought, 'If such a person is not a master craftsman, than who is worthy enough to call them self craftsman?' ( TN -- i am using sometime craftsman and sometimes blacksmith since there is slightly difference between them blacksmith generally referred to a person who manly work on iron while craftsman works on overall product and gives finishing touches to the product. )

At first, Hendrick showed an attitude to deny unconditionally that Roman is a blacksmith, but now he had fully accepted it, after seeing Roman working in the forge.

'With this level of skill, there is no doubt Roman had made this extraordinary sword. His attitude towards handling the steel, the speed at which he struck the steel with hammer, the sound of hammer and steel clashing. Everything is perfect. And unlike me, the scene where Roman is fully embracing the heat of the furnace with his bare body, reminds me of Baron Romero's heyday. Now I understand blood flowing in a person body cannot be changed. Not like Rodwell Dmitry, but Roman Dmitry the eldest son is truly born with the blood of a blacksmith like his father.'

After seeing Roman working in the furnace he can only swallow his dry throat.

Roman's work must have a secret to increasing mana reactivity of an object.

Hendrick had become a spectator and set in the sidelines of the smithy, now he had completely put his doubts down his head and enjoyed the work in front of him.

Even though quite a lot of time passed and he thought of stopping, he couldn't do it. Until the sun set, Roman was immersed in his work, and Hendrick just gazed at the scene carefully.

They both knew, the true reason for Hendrick coming here, to find proof that Roman had indeed made that sword himself, had already been achieved. Now Hendrick believed Roman's words of forging Salamander to be true as he saw him working in the smithy.

Tuk!

Finally the work was finished.

Looking at Roman drenched in sweat, Hendrick said with a face as if he had committed a treason.

"I'm sorry. You were truly the master of the sword."

It was a quick apologies, Hendrick is a master craftsman.

He had great pride because he devoted his life in blacksmithing, and of course he was angry at the thought that Roman's remarks was like mocked him.

However, when the truth was confirmed, his attitude changed.

If Roman was truly the craftsman of Salamander, Hendrick had no choice but to love him no matter what his past with Roman was.

Roman laughed this placed had clear up the bad ties of his past.

In order to fully settle down as Dmitry's person, he decided that it was necessary to improve his relationship with Hendrick.

Roman said, "I'll give you salamander as a present."

"Huh!"

"As you can see today, I am crafting a new sword. I have sold Master Hendrick's swords in the past, so I don't know if this will be good enough present, but I would like you to accept the Salamander as a gift."

After hearing Roman's words, Hendrick's hands trembled.

Actually, from the first time he saw Salamander, Hendrick wanted to keep this sword with him.

It was a new type of sword for him due to its mana reactivity, and he had a desire to analyze the Salamander and make it his own.

But he didn't think that Roman will give him this sword.

Hendrick coughed.

He can't just like that take it, because he remember being angry on Roman, but he didn't want to refuse either.

" Uh huh! Thank you."

Hendrick stutters.

He didn't even refuse in the first place, now as if it was his part of his body, Hendrick hold the sword tightly in his hand.

Seeing Hendrick holding the Salamander in his hand, Roman knew he wasn't a bad person.

Hendrick and Roman, their relationship was ruined by previous Roman.

Although he was Dmitry's successor, he neglected the work of the forge, and sold Hendrik Master's masterpiece, that lead to the bad relationship between them.

Still, Hendrick wasn't that bad from his heart.

As soon as he confirmed that Roman was of the same kind as him, his fiery temper towards him melted like snow.

It was like this in his previous life. People too immersed in one field cannot stick to one mentality. And to make them allies, all one had to do was respect their territory.

"And you are always welcome to come to see my work."

" If you say so."

Hendrick smiled. Once Roman said he could come and see him working, his face elated in happiness. He was such a simple person. And that day, their feud came to an end.

And also at same time servant under Baron Romero's orders was looking for Hendrick's whereabouts.
