He smirked. "Surprised?" I was dying to hug him but my seat belt said otherwise we were still taking off so i couldn't stand. "Zawj." I was grinning. "I didn't want the pilot to announce but hey. I got you didn't i?." You know that moment when you want to at least tone down your smile but it was almost Impossible.
Immediately the seatbelt sign got turned off i un-bulked my belt and rang to his side encolsing him in a hug. He hugged me back and we were in that unconfortable but beautiful position for minutes until i heard Someone clear there throats. I turned to the steward who smiled. "Good Morning Mr and Mrs Abdullah, What would you like?."
We ate gisted and i was really excited. Nana was taking a nap on the couch whilst the Tv played her favourite show. 'Tom and jerry tales.'
"But does my mother know we are coming?" He shook his head. "No one, even my mother doesn't she thinks we are going to Lagos." He answerd, I warp my arms around him giving him another bone crushing hug in our seating position, Until I notice the seat belts signs came back on. "This is Captain Sharif specking. Please fasten your seat belt as we preparing for landing at Cairo international Airport. We hope you enjoyed your flight Mr and Mrs Abdullah." I woke Nana up and fastened on her seat belt on but she went back to sleep immediatly i was done.
I sat back on my seat ready to hold Abdullah's hand when ever we fly my worst part is landing i feel my soul coming out of me. And makes me always want to puke. But when i hold someone i just feel like i am not alone anymore.
I wrapped my fingers around his as the plane lowered. In less than ten minutes we were on the ground. We came out after saying the usual hello's and his to the captain and the rest of the crew.
Abdullah held Nana in his arm's as she continued sleeping on his shoulders, we got in the back of a black SUV we waited for about five minutes as our luggages were wheeled to the trunk. I'm so excited I'm going to see my Mother, I haven't seen her in years. Only when we make video calls. "We are going to drop our things in the hotel then we would go see her." I nodded.
An hour and half later,We were at my mother's door step a brown and golden bungalow I saw her white mini cooper parked at the side. I smiled as i looked around it has changed a lot from the last time i came here. I used to come spend my holidays here before I got married and it used to be fun. Taking in some air i knocked at the front door.
I rose my hand to knock again when the door flew open. "Na'am?" A little girl answered she was about eight years old. She was my step sister, Yasmin When my Mother came back to egypt she got married again to an Egyptian man and she bore two kids for him a boy and a girl. The girl was eight Yasmin and the boy was six Sani. "Heyy Yasmin." She gave us an awkward look before looking at Nana who was about her height. "Salam. hal 'iinaa aerafak." I forgot she Doesn't speck English. "ana .. 'ayn walidatik."
(hal 'iinaa aerafak. 'Salam do i know you'...
ana .. 'ayn walidatik.. 'i am....Where is your mother?'.)
I know she would be surprised to see me because we spoke on the phone last night and I didn't make mention that I was coming. A voice came from inside the house. "taflay aldhy hu ealaa alba." My mum came by the door looking at us before realisation hit her. She gasped her lips parting. "Bibi." She dropped the basket in her hands before warping her arms around me. "My baby, Oh how i have longed to see you in my arms again." She cried, Still not moving but standing there hugging each other. Seeing my Mother in tears was something that you hardly ever see. She is a hard woman a rock that is impenetrable. She whipped her tears before anyone could see them. Then evolved me in another bear hug.
(taflay aldhy hu ealaa alba/ 'My child who is at door?'.
bibi 'lady of the house.'.)
She lets go just looking at me looking at how I have changed. I also observed her and well she got chubbier from the last time i saw her, Her cheeks where fuller and she was glowing. She caressed my cheek looking at me. And from the way she looked at my eyes i knew she really did missed me.
"And you Abdullah, You kept my little girl hostage eh?." She jokingly pointed a finger at him. He chuckled. "Its not how it seems." I felt Nana tugging my dress with her hands, Before my mother pulled her up from her arms and Nana laughed along. "Khadijah you have grown. You have teeth." Khadijah grinned showing her set of milk teeth again. "I have twenty set i counted them in school." Khadijah was put down by my mum. "You have also increased in weight as well, and well please do come in."Yasmin ran in before we did and Nana followed her, kids always have this connection.
Abdullah walked in after I did. The living room didn't really change it was still modern just more green that before.
"I don't know what I did to you guys you two don't call me any more." She spoke sitting on the couch. "Yasmin, Hayaa ahdur bed alma." Yesmin rose from her siting position to get water and well Nana followed her like a tail. I feel they would be best friends soon enough.
(ahdur bed alma.' bring some water')
"Haa.. Mama well its not like that, I usually want too but you know Ihsan she would always be saying we shouldn't." My brows shut up, and my hand smacked his arm.
My Mother let out a full laugh at our silliness. "Zawj is lying don't mind him, Mama I have never said that. Where is Baba?" Baba is my step dad.
"Ohh he has gone to get grocery for the house with Sani." I looked at Abdullah with my brows shut up. My mum laughed when she noticed what i was getting at. Abdullah could only face palm himself.
Yasmin entered the living room with three bottles on the tray and we continued, Talking as well as exchanging jokes. This has to be one of my favorite moments this whole year.
