Rebirth

"Aaaaaand... there. Okay. This should work... ki should flow from there to there... and then here..."

In a dark cave, dimly illuminated by the soft glowing runes on the walls and the intense glow of the floating runes in the center.

A gray robed cultivator pointed at the runic array pointing where the energy would flow, checking twice and checking again.

"Okay... this should work! Time to activate the Immortal Realm's first three dimensional interconnected array! Haiyah!"

With a dramatic pose the cultivator pushed his ki into the array, the ki flowed slowly though.

The runes slowly filled with ki, lighting up with a different hue.

Starting at the intersection, the speed slowed down even further, but the cultivator didn't seem worried.

Slowly, ever so slowly the ki permeated every rune and filled up the array.

"Yes... yes... yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!"

The cultivator could almost jump in joy at the ki filled array.

Without warning, the array exploded. It was unknown, whether the signs of failure was too fast to notice, or the cultivator was too happy to notice.

The cultivator was caught off guard, and died.

The mountain that contained the array was deleted, the realms would only notice a crater whose size would dwarf even the immortal cities.

Darkness filled his vision, it filled his being and cold bit at every corner of his soul.

"Damnit! Was that not the right configuration?! Sigh... It's gonna take another hundred thousand years to get the materials... shit! That's not even mentioning recreating my body! Damnit! Damnit!"

The cultivator cursed in the dark void, unknowing that his life saving treasure was destroyed in the blast too.

Ten thousand years later...

"Hmm... this is taking too long... did the others not realize I died? Damnit... O heavens please send someone my way!"

Maybe it was out of pure coincidence, or the heavens were watching him. A vortex of blinding white and purple appeared next to him and sucked him into it, the cultivator noticed it and had only one thought.

'Finally!'
