Using his soul-sight, the cultivator watched as his soul descended from the heavens.
'Weird exit point but okay...'
Despite the speed of which his soul descended, the cultivator could still take note of the surroundings.
'What is this? Some backward place? Sure is a small town... maybe the soul jade was taken from my cave and some kid picked it up? Damn... what a pain.'
The cultivators soul descended fast, and he soon found himself in a body. A baby's body.
'What!'
"Waaaah!"
Everyone in the room burst into tears as the baby cried, moments before the baby had died shortly after being born.
The parents were no ordinary people, and they could feel the life force of the baby leave him.
Not a moment later however, it rejuvenated seemingly out of nowhere. The cries of the baby relieved them of their stress and tears flowed from them.
"Come... hold him, gently now," the nanny handed the baby to the father, the mother too exhausted to even lift her arms, "the boy is alive. He isn't the healthiest of babies I've seen but he will survive. Congratulations Duke."
"Mm."
As the baby was held by the Duke, he finally stopped crying. The baby brought his hands up opening and closing his tiny hands at the Duke.
The Duke gave a gentle smile in return, and brought the baby to the mother's side.
While this was going on, the cultivator was not happy on the inside.
'What the hell?! Who could do this! Damnit! I'd rather not be born if it meant the death of a baby! Which devil cultivator did this?!'
The cultivator watched the baby's father smile at him, and his emotions flared in a somber tone.
'Damnit... if I find the devil that did this... Sigh.'
Watching his now mother, smiling at him in the same gentle tone as his father brought him to her, the cultivator could only steel himself.
'Sigh... what's done is done. At the very least... let's be a good child for them. They don't seem to be cultivators anyways.'
The cultivator stopped thinking further, he would be putting down people who had gifted him new life.
"What should we name him dear?"
"Let's name him Artem... I don't need him to shine like the sun... I only wish for him live a long life."
"Hehe, no need for that explanation, Artem... is a good name."
"Mm."
