Kai received a chain quest from the screen, indicating that he must make a friend to Carmen Mordigord who was currently an A+ adventurer as of now. Honestly, he doesn't want to do this quest since nothing will happen to him if he failed it. Yet, he realized that he should not waste the opportunity to get stronger after obviously being defeated by David.
But the main pressing question here was, what he should do to approach that dangerous woman? If he was depending on how David acted in front of Carmen, he can easily David respect her. Not because she was a woman who had a beautiful face and sexy body, it was because of the huge difference between their strength.
"I have seven days to know where she lives and how I'm going to approach her." After he leaned his back on the red sofa, he sighed deeply
___
The night came, and Alexa returned home unexpectedly. But, before she could grab the door, it suddenly opened, and someone yanked her hand inside.
Bam!
Alexa noticed the door close, but she was unable to speak because a strong hand was covering her mouth. Kai? ' She discovered the man's appearance and can't help but think that the man she helped for several days could do something like this to her.
However, those negative thoughts quickly vanished once Kai began to explain the situation.
Kai placed his index finger over his reddy lips. "Shh... Please be quiet, Alexa, while I check to make sure no one followed you here." He removed his hand from Alexa's mouth, then looked through the window to see if anyone was acting suspiciously.
He saw the other adventurers safely returning to their homes and bringing tons of food, as they had made a good living with their expedition inside the Nocturn tower.
"What are you doing, Kai?! Why did you suddenly snatch me in my house and now you're acting strangely, as if you're hiding from someone!" She exclaimed, still feeling Kai's hand wiping her mouth.
Kai smirked at her as he scratched the back of his head. "I'm sorry about that, Alexa. Something came up in the evaluation, and the man there suggested it would be much better if no one could find where I lived."
For the first time hearing these words, she realized Kai did something against Deranium City's rules. However, she slowly shook her head, knowing that she must not jump to conclusions, and hears the entire story of what happened in the Headquarters.
"What he suggested? Did you have any problems with your evaluation—?" She can't keep asking him as Kai has intercepted her.
"Oh, I remember. Why did you come back today? I thought you were going to spend the majority of your time in the infirmary?" Kai asked quietly.
"This is home, so I naturally came back here after work; also, the number of adventurers injured today has decreased, so I came here early," she paused for a second as she noticed Kai had changed the topic. "You think you can get away with me? Now tell me what happened to your evaluation before I kick you out of my house."
"Hehe" He just smiled at her before slipping the silver template into his pocket. "Everything started with this template."
"D+?"
After he showed the silver template, Kai told her the entire story of what happened in the Adventurer's Headquarters, including his battle with David. It took him nearly 9 minutes to finish.
"Ohh... Now I see why the practitioner suggested that," Alexa rubbed her chin, surprised that this man could be the D+ adventurer.
"Now that you've heard my story, could you tell me why the practitioner said I had to meet him after the commotion died down? Also, why are the other adventurers chasing me?" Kai inquired, puzzled.
"I'll answer your second question first. It appears that the adventurers are chasing you because of your rank. Normally, the D+ rank can be obtained by ordinary adventurers in their 30s, and they are lucky if they have it before that age. If my intuition is correct, those adventurers thought you could increase your rank in no time." She was still looking at him in his head down to his feet, unable to believe the man she helped was a D+ swordman.
Kai returned her gaze, analyzing the information she had provided. "You're a C+ healer, right?"
Alexa nodded, at the same time, she knew that something came up to this man's mind "Yeah, what about it?"
"Does that mean you're already over 30?" He took a step back, and the red sofa shifted as a result of him. In his mind, he never imagined a beautiful woman like her being twice his age.
Bam!
As soon as she realized those words irritated her, she chopped his head with her hand. "I'm only 24 years old, you moron!"
"Ouch! So, why do you have a C+ rank if you're not in your 30s? With that rank, I'm sure the adventurers are looking for you as well! "Kai rubbed his head.
"Grr... If you haven't lost your memories, I will never say this to you!" Alexa gritted her teeth as she pinched Kai's waist. "I have a C+ rank because of the continuous healing of the adventurers who get injured every day, and the main reason why the other adventurers aren't looking for me is that I can't make a buff skill or any enhancing skill that would help the adventurers in a certain expedition," She had a miserable tone after saying the last sentence.
Kai noticed it and bowed his head deeply. "I apologize if my curiosity offended you."
"No, that's fine, Kai, that's the truth. Although I'm 100 percent good at healing wounds or extracting poison, the best healer should also be able to give strength to your party members. I quit being an adventurer because of that, but now I'm good and I've found my new life in the infirmary," Alexa said with her eyes lifeless.
Kai had no idea how he was supposed to respond to that. 'She's having an emotional outburst right now. 'What should I do to change this heavy ambiance?' he pondered, trying to boost her confidence. "Don't worry about it, Alexa! I know you're a skilled healer!"
He flexed his muscles in front of her, displaying all of his scars that Alexa had healed. Furthermore, those words assisted her in reawakening her senses.
"I'm sorry about that, Kai. I can't help but get emotional every time I remember how my previous teammates rejected me because of it." She smiled at her, pretending to be fine before saying these words. "I believe I already knew the answer to your first question; it appears that the practitioner said that to you since he wants you to work for him."
For some reason, Kai expressed sympathy for this woman, as well as a plan for dealing with her. But first, he must address all of the concerns that have arisen in his mind.
"Working from him? Like... Killing monsters in the Nocturn tower and selling all of my collected cores to him? That's what he wanted me to do?"
"You have the point but not exactly. To be more precise, he wanted you to do a quest for him. It's either to kill the monster that attacking a certain village or protecting exporting goods from the monsters, something like that." Alexa explained to him.
"After hearing your explanation. I guess I would think about that since there's a lot of stuff I have to do, and one of them is earning money." Kai said smiling at her maliciously.
She patted his shoulder, "Good, Kai! That's an excellent decision."
...
They walked to the dining table after their conversation ended so they could have a delicious dinner. Even though Kai insisted that he could cook, Alexa was the one who did it.
The two were savoring their food when Alexa struck up a conversation. "Didn't you say you were attacked earlier by the other adventurer?"
As he was chewing his food, the only thing he could do was nod at her.
"Then who is the woman you saved?"
Before responding to her, Kai swallowed his food. That woman never introduced herself to him, but because he was on the chain quest and the screen give him small details about her, he recognized her name.
"Her name is Carmen Mordigord, why."
The heated soup splashed on Alexa's face when she dropped her spoon on the bowl. Yet, she didn't mind the pain, though.
"Alexa Mordigord, the member of the Deranium City's number one guild, saved your life; why did she say to you?" Alexa was blinking, as Carmen was one of the adventurers she admired.
"She said I'm lucky that she was able to save my life in time," Kai said, humming and staring at the ceiling, wondering what else Carmen had said to him. "After that, I thanked her for saving my life, but I didn't have a long conversation with her because I was rushing."
Alexa raised her brows several times and looked at him as if she didn't believe his story. "Are you making up a story? I've known Carmen for a long time; she's a cold person who has never tried to talk to anyone; I believe she just left you after saving your life, haha!"
"Think whatever you want, Alexa, since you're not going to believe me no matter what I say here, and I'd also like to inform you that I'm going to Nocturn tomorrow," Kai said as he stood up and had annoyed expression on his face.
"Eh? Your wounds just got healed. I think you should stay here for a while."
"No, I'm good." He left his bowl on the table and said. "I'm heading to my room. Good night!"
"What an attitude? Do I say something wrong?"
