...Why?
I wanted to face palm inside and tried my best to hide my frown, but I knew that it was leaking out.
What did I ever do to deserve this...? Was it because I killed those people in my past life?
As of the current situation, I'm currently regretting some of my actions on my past life. I couldn't help but curse at myself inside for being a bitch as I thought about it.
"Hey little girl, what with the silence?" One of the guy spoke, attempting to grab her. She dodged this and her eyes twitched for a moment, indicating that she's losing her patients
"....." Speechless, I pinched the middle of my brows in contemplated.
...Right.
About this problem, sooner or later I know that they'll probably gonna die pathetically if I let this continue.
Not that I care about it, but I can't let what happens next happen.
Why...?
It was written on the novel that after killing these guys, she went on to destroy the whole city herself.
This girl... She was a living calamity.
I noticed dark particles began gathering within her right hand. She was about to attack those people.
"Guess I have to go now..."
While I said this to myself, I suddenly remembered about a chapter about her and Arthur meeting up when he tried to save one of his companion from Hell.
It was annoyingly a long chapter.
...
..
.
According to the novel...
"Arthur, what should we do now?"
Lumine asked with a worried tone. After they entered the duke's mansion, she couldn't help but feel quite anxious because she knew that death only awaits if they ever get caught.
"I don't know..for now."
Arthur's frown became visibly deep. Because of Lumine's neverending questions, he couldn't help but feel annoyed. If it wasn't for her being persistent, he surely would like to leave her alone and save Leigh by himself.
"I shouldn't have brought you with me..." Was something he wanted to say, but couldn't in fear of something worse.
"Arthur, they're here."
Breaking him from his thoughts was Alicia's usual stern voice. Though, she might not be showing it, he knew that she was also anxious like Lumine.
Carefully observing a certain prisoner from afar, Arthur gestured his hands silently, ordering them to be quiet.
"Sir, we caught the spy." One of the true demon soldiers spoke.
"Good... Bring him inside the dungeon. Make sure that you guys get here before thirty minutes or else, all of you will lose your head."
After the Duke said that to them, the blue screen disappeared. The soldiers who saw this heaved out a heavy sigh of relief as he turned his attention towards the others, informing them to move the carriage.
"The duke is ordering us to move. We should go quickly."
-Yes, sir!
The soldiers answered in synchronized manner.
After that, the carriage started moving. Arthur saw this and slowly stood up from his hiding place and ordered the two to get ready.
Alicia took out her short sword and prepared herself. Not just her, but Lumine too. Taking her small wand out of her pocket, Lumine began her chant.
Arthur stared at her for a couple of seconds before returning his attention back towards the moving carriage.
The carriage were protected by soldiers from both sides. He knew that they had no choice but to fight those soldiers if they want to save their friend.
[Hall Of Flame]
After Lumine finished her chant, fire appeared from the side of the carriage, devouring some of the soldiers in flames and causing some panic.
Picking up an artifact from his pocket, the soldier tried to call the duke to inform him about the sudden ambush, but... Before he could even activate the artifact, an arrow came flying towards him, hitting his hands.
"Argh!" The soldier let out a groan as the artifact he was holding fell on the ground.
The other soldiers, who noticed this scene, started rushing to where the artifact had fell but before they're hands could even reach it, an arrow came flying again heading towards it, destroying the artifact into pieces.
After the artifact got destroyed, the soldiers turned their heads towards where the arrows came from.
"What? Got a problem with me?"
A blonde elf girl revealed herself under the red moonlight. Her hair were blonde, while her eyes were green like emerald.
Glancing towards one of the fallen soldier, the commander of the demons started sweating buckets... It was the first time he felt this way.
He was about to take a step back when he suddenly realized that he was falling... No, it was his head that was falling.
Thud-!
His head rolled through the grass, covering it with blood.
"Sigh..."
The one who slashed his head off was Alicia. From her current features, no one could recognize her if it weren't for the cold aura she was usually emitting. Though, this aura seemed a little colder than usual.
Instead of being her normal platinum-white, her hair were now replaced by silky black. There was also a dark crystal-like horn grew on her side.
"Weak..." She uttered in silence, her attention going back towards Arthur.
"I'm done here."
"Alright." Arthur responded quickly, walking though the group of soldiers on his way.
As they were about to attack, they suddenly froze up.
Not because of magic...
"I'm done here, too."
It was simply because they were dead.
Blood splattered around the grass as the bodies of the soldiers, who tried to attack Arthur, suddenly exploded into pieces.
"Let's wrap this up quickly." He says, ordering his companions to end the soldiers quickly.
After cleaning up for a couple of minutes, the door of the carriage suddenly came flying out of nowhere.
"Ugh... That was a good nap."
Stretching his arms up, their friend, Leigh, walked out of the carriage as if nothing had happened. Scratching the side of his cheeks, Leigh took a long side glance to where Arthur and his companion's are.
Yawning, he spoke once again, "You guys are already here?"
His eyes landed on the blood everywhere. Hearing his statement, Cayla's, the archer from earlier, eyes started twitching, as she raised her finger towards Leigh direction
"Look here, brother! We just came here to save you because Arthur is being so persistent for asking me to come."
"Huh?.. When did I ask— Oh sorry that I even asked... Please forgive this humble fool for asking."
Before Arthur could finish his mid-sentence at the start, he felt a sharp invisible object aimed towards his neck, making him change what he wanted to say.
...It was you who was persistent.
Arthur heaved out a short yet heavy sigh.
"We should go before their backup arrive."
Not so far where Arthur was, noticing that something might go wrong, Lilian spoke up. Her tone wasn't neither overbearing nor cold.
She had an elegant and porcelain face that perfectly accompanied by her creamy brown hair that fell behind her waist. Just by looking at her azure colored eyes can spellbind almost every living things.
Anyone? Yeah... Anyone except for Arthur.
He already had enough seeing so much beauties a day that seeing new ones doesn't even bother him. Though, that doesn't mean that he is good at talking to girls.
"Yeah, we should leave now."
Turning their head to face the east, they started running towards the hell gate's direction.
It took a couple of minutes before they could even reach the door, but... It's still not open.
"Dammit!"
Arthur cursed out loud. His expression were mixed with both worried and anger.
"It's still not open..."
Taking a quick look at the watch from his wrist, Arthur saw that it was still around 10:47 P.M, and the opening of the hell's gate was exactly 12:00 A.M.
"Guess we still have to fight our way out of this first."
...
A couple of minutes later, some backups had already arrived. Readying their stance, the true demons started rushing forward towards them, while some aimed their bows up.
"Huu..."
Letting out a long sigh, Arthur raised his broadsword and sliced the incoming arrows.
All the arrows were easily sliced in half. Activating his crest, dawn, Arthur disappeared from his place and reappeared on the middle of the true demon army.
"Haa!"
He slashed his sword, releasing a strong gust of wind that was strong enough to cut through even thick skin of a giant.
Not far from him, Alicia was also fighting some of the soldiers.
Gritting her teeth, she activated one of her elemental crest, ice, and froze some of her enemies. She took advantage of this and cut them in half while they were in this state.
Just like them, Cayla and Leigh also joined the fight. By combining their powers together, Cayla's nature crest, helped by holding on to the foot of the soldiers, while Leigh used his barrier to crush the trapped enemies.
Lumine, of course, helped the fight by using her magic to burn the enemies that tries to get near the others while they were focused on their own opponents.
This battle took for about thirty-five minutes before more backups for the true demon soldiers came again.
The backups were roughly estimated to be at least 200,000 true demon soldiers. Not only that, some soldiers were ranked baron, and two viscount commanders.
Not only that...
In front of the army was a woman, seemed to be at the age 18, black haired and violet eyes. Her looks surpassed even Lilian's beauty. Above all, the aura she was emitting were on a different level than Arthur.
"Shit..."
Muttering to himself, Arthur knew without turning his head around that the other's reaction were the same as him.
The black-haired woman in front of the army decided to speak up, "Had enough fun yet?"
After she said that, she vanished and reappeared in front of Cayla. Raising her hands slightly to touch Cayla's belly, dark particles covered her hands and turned into a small dark bullet that was shot, throwing Cayla to the door.
-Thud!
Upon hitting, a huge sound of the door being pounded echoed throughout the place.
Turning their heads to look at the woman, she vanished once again and reappeared just by the side of Leigh.
Raising her hills up until 90° degrees, the woman threw a full axe kick, aiming towards Leigh's head.
[Hard Barrier]
Thankfully, Leigh reacted quickly and created a barrier above his head. If it wasn't for the fact that he only focused his full attention to her, Leigh would've have been hit by her kick.
But..
-Creak!
"Huh?"
The barrier wasn't enough to stop the strength of her kick.
Realizing that the barrier began to crack, Leigh immediately took a step away from it.
VUAAM!
After breaking, the her feet landed to the ground, causing the earth to quake. Leigh lost his balance and when he looked away for a quick moment, the woman disappeared once again.
"...!!!?"
The moment Leigh noticed that she was behind him, he knew that it was already too late.
Just when her hands was about to touch Leigh's nape, Arthur appeared in front of her and pulled Leigh and himself away from her.
While in the process of doing so, Arthur slammed his other hand on the ground.
The rocks and the parts of the corpses, that had been flying above him and his companions since after the fight had started to protect them from any incoming arrows, all fell towards the woman.
"I guess you weren't the so-called "prodigy" for nothing, Arthur..." The woman looked at him amused, lifting her other hand to summon a dark barrier above her head.
...I can't beat her.
Arthur thought to himself. It wasn't the first time he had faced people who was clearly stronger than him. Though, at the end of the day, he either beat them or escaped.
But now...
He wasn't sure if he can even beat her, let alone, escape with the others.
While watching as the woman walked towards them with her other hand raised, Arthur remembered something.
He raised his right hands as chains started to become visible from where his Stigma are.
This is going to hurt...
Soon, one of the chains broke.
