Crystalia Amaquelin POV

I look at the intruders with surprise.

Because while they're teasing the royal guards, I hear a voice in my head.

— Hello, my name is Mantis Brandt and we don't want to hurt you, we're just trying to help you — the voice said.

— You want to help me... Why? — I asked mentally.

— Because we can, so take your chance — the woman called Mantis said.

I stay silent for a few seconds. I don't know if I can trust but this is my only chance to escape.

Clenching my teeth, I say to her mentally:

— Alright —

— Then wait for us to attack first — the woman named Mantis replied.

Alex Wayne POV

Mantis winked at me, which was enough to know that Crystalia agreed with us.

No longer caring about the royal guard leader's inner conflict, I made my first move.

At a speed comparable to Pietro's, I approached the leader of the guards and punched him in the stomach.

My attack caught them off guard and they were unable to react.

When the others wanted to help their leader, they were covered by Riri, Laura, Mantis, and Crystalia's joint attacks.

Once we defeated them, Crystalia encased their bodies up to their shoulders in compressed snow, preventing them from moving.

The royal guards are helpless and furious.

Helpless because the strength of these strangers is impressive.

And furious that Crystalia had turned her back on them and joined with these people to defeat them.

They are from the same country for God's sake!

"Traitor, do you know what will happen if the king finds out about this?" the leader of the royal guards asked.

Crystalia looks at him indifferently and says:

"This is his fault for having accepted the words of the Genetic Council"

The leader of the royal guards just falls silent.

He is not an idiot to say something that would only annoy Crystalia more.

Alex Wayne POV

Looking at our captives, I say to Mantis:

"Put them to sleep"

Nodding, Mantis approaches the men and one by one knocks them unconscious after touching their heads.

Seeing that the royal guards of Attilan were knocked unconscious, Crystalia turns to us and says:

"My name is Crystalia Amaquelin and I am grateful for your help"

With a smile on my face, I say:

"Nice to meet you Crystalia, my name is Alex Wayne. The girl in the suit is Riri Williams, the one with the claws is Laura Kinney and the one who spoke to you telepathically is Mantis Brandt. And don't worry, we did it because we wanted to"

She just nods her head.

Sounds like it's a good time to ask questions.
