‘Did he ask you to get me?’ She asked with an expression full of expectations.

‘No, he left.’ I hated being the bearer of bad news, but the cold water had to be poured.

I watched her drop her phone and start the engine with trembling hands and a depressed sigh.

'Look, I'm sorry Kassy but Eric and I are going on a road trip later this morning and I wasn't sure you'll be up before we leave. Plus I know about your long nap.' She had a point.


Whenever I slept for long hours during the day, I was bound to stay awake all night.


'Great! We'll be back before then and I will go with you to see Nate.' She only kept smiling while hugging Eric's hand.


'I see your reading light is on, what are you doing?' Eric asked. 


His jawline made his other features almost invisible. They were just too perfect.


'I'm writing an eulogy. My best friend passed.' I looked at the almost blank page in front of me. 


'When is the burial?' He asked. I felt his large hands hold my shoulders. 


He was standing behind me, hovering over me and looking into the paper on my table.


'Soon. I need to concentrate. I'll talk to you guys when you get back from your trip. Have fun.' My attempt at bidding them farewell was futile. They only laughed.
