‘No, he left.’ I hated being the bearer of bad news, but the cold water had to be poured.

I watched her drop her phone and start the engine with trembling hands and a depressed sigh.

'No one lied to you, Kassandra. Try not to be dramatic. We simply misled you and that's not fault of ours.' Alicia said.
