Catherine

Since the day I saw what happened with mother outside on her knees begging for more time from the hands of my father's murderers, I knew I had todo something. I couldn't let her to keep carrying the burden of the family alone. I urged my immediate younger brother John to start learning handworkduring the weekends at our neighbors who was a mechanic.

I felt too embarrassed to allow him to continue, I missed my final exams and the soccer match that day. When I held my mother in my arms I forgot totally about all my problems. I didn't want to leave her to pursue my dream of becoming an Olympic champion.

Since I was a little girl I have always dreamt of the time, I would be opportune to be on that stage doing my thing in my element. Father always supported me! He took me to most of my practices, and always told me, "Keep your head in the game."

I would always nod trying to catch my breath.
