CHAPTER 14

Edmund's strides slowed down as he neared the dancer's room. Why was his heart beating so fast like he was about to commit a hideous crime? It was nothing unusual. He had done something like that countless times and that one won't be the last. Pushing his thoughts out of the window, he continued his journey. He was once again slowed by the little crowd of women who gathered in the hallway in the direction given to him. What caught his attention most was their panicked faces. All their attention was focused on the door he was headed to.

When he stood in front of the room he heard the shouts and cries. At first, it sounded so distant and unclear that he almost thought he was beginning to hear and imagine things. He knocked and waited expectantly for her to open the door. A few seconds of no reply he turned around to see if the women were still gathered, and to his distaste they were still there looking at him like a lunatic.
