CHAPTER 17

The noise in the room slowly died down as Edmund sauntered into the room full of people he would rather not have anything to do with. He hated how people looked at him. He could feel their judgemental eyes tearing his skin apart, but it was a good thing he had grown thick skin.

He cursed himself for even thinking about attending the damned soiree. When he heard from his brother that the Vixen would be attending the soiree, the idea didn't sound so bad anymore. It wasn't hard to spot her in the little crowd, looking as beautiful and elegant as ever. 

When their eyes locked, he felt a jolt in his heart. No, that wasn't his heart skipping a beat. He suppressed the intense urge to go over to where she stood and embrace her till his trembling heart calmed down. Why was he feeling funny?
