CHAPTER 48

Susan paced back and forth in the room, shoulders stiff with tension for the incoming confrontation that was long due.

She saw red as her eyes landed on the morning paper scrunched in one hand. She couldn't even get herself to read those words again. When Madeline had brought the paper in the early hours of the morning, Susan thought it was for usual gossip but that changed when she saw her name on the paper and words such as engagement, Viscount William, and happy union all in black and white. How dare the man?

Susan was fast to turn to the sound of the door opening and in walked the second devil in her life. Maybe she was cursed, or something because why on earth was she unable to find a decent man to settle down with?!

"A lovely evening to you, My lady," Viscount William greeted as he stepped into the room and closed the door behind him

The devil dared smile at her.
