As Vicus knew it would be no use to feign ignorance, he did not say anything and only lowered his gaze while the Duke approached the chair behind his desk and took a seat.
"My daughter keeps on surprising me over and over again," Deric Camer quietly said. "Just when I thought that she had turned cold, I saw her warming up, and when I thought of how cruel she had become, she suddenly showed mercy and even forgiveness." The Duke made a deliberate pause before he said, "While I am happy that she still doesn't lose herself completely, her unpredictable nature scares me."
There was another long pause before Duke Camer slowly continued, "What if she gets herself in huge trouble? What if she does something she shouldn't? What if she deliberately put herself in danger? I worry about these things all the time."
