"I thought he'd never leave," Greer said, suddenly appearing again, his eyes roaming over Lily's body. "You were spectacular using your mind control powers with Jeff. You catch on quickly."

"That's a very impressive power," Lily said, also surprised by the ease with which she'd mastered it. “I’m tempted to use it on a particular boss I know. Maybe I'll send her out on a wild night of drinking and partying to loosen her up."

Greer smiled at her. "Like all power, it's best not to trifle with it. It's most potent when used sparingly and wisely."

"I wish we could use it on Gavin to get him to return my implant to me," she said thoughtfully.

"I'm afraid that's impossible," he said, moving closer to pin her against the wall. "Vampires can only enter another vampire’s mind if invited."

"So, what do we do now?" Lily asked. "Wait for me to die?”
