Chapter 40: Interrogation of the Co-Workers

*Claire*

These two and a half weeks have been bliss. I wake up to either see Nathaniel reading in the corner of the room or hear him in the kitchen making breakfast for me. I go down the stairs of my apartment where we talk before he starts delving into case files for other clients who have hired him for his private investigation skills while I work out, clean, or watch him work.

We might not have slept together, but I would gladly sport the so-called “walk of shame” for these mornings. If I’m being honest, Nathaniel seems just as giddy as I feel. It’s nice being with him. I don’t feel alone.

Being near him felt natural, like things didn’t have to be forced between us. We could sit for hours without actually saying anything, and it is never uncomfortable. We have a flow when we’re in the apartment, like making dinner the other night.
