Chapter 66: The Cabin

Rowan stood in front of the small, one-bedroom cabin Gordy had so generously offered her. It was an adorable, hand-built log house that had been in the man’s family for many generations. Every owner had updated it or added on to it. But its heart, soul, and charm had always been meticulously maintained.

She was overwhelmingly grateful to him for giving her this one night of sanctuary. The cabin was so well hidden that it didn’t even have a proper road in and out of it. Gordy had to draw a small rudimentary map with landmarks in order for her to find it, and even then, she got lost a few times. But the small map, crudely drawn on the back of the envelope that housed her small paycheck, had sufficed once she had learned read it.
