Chapter 71: Searching

Dinner was a pleasant affair as Gordy told stories of his late wife and all the antics the woman got into. She sounded like an amazing woman, and Rowan was more and more sad that she didn’t have a chance to meet her.

“She sounds like she was an amazing woman,” Rowan told him, enjoying the dreamy smile on his face.

Gordy nodded. “She was. Truly the love of my life. We were not blessed with children, but we were still blessed with each other, and that was enough.”

“That’s beautiful, Gordy,” Rowan said, putting her hand over his.

Gordy squeezed her hand. “Thank you, hon, and thank you for letting me prattle on about our happiness. I know you are hurting deeply right now, and it must just make things worse hearing all of this.”

Rowan folded in on herself slightly. His happiness had made her wonder if she could have found that sort of happiness with Fyn if things had been different. But she had enjoyed hearing about Gordy and Lydia’s love story.
