Rowan felt her chest constrict until she felt like she could not breathe. She stumbled backward, trying to find a spot to sit down in. The man had continued speaking, but Rowan could not hear a single thing he said after: “Fyn’s in trouble.” Those three words kept tumbling around in her head, and she could not stop thinking about them.
She had known… something inside her had known, unequivocally, that Fyn had been hurt or was in trouble. But she didn’t understand HOW she had known. Was this just an expansion of her gift to speak to animals? But how did THIS tie into it? No, she was absolutely certain that this was different. It didn’t even feel the same as when she spoke to the animals.
In the end, it didn’t even matter. The most important thing now was the fact that Fyn was in trouble. He had been taken by people that the man had called “The Poachers.” They had to be the same people who were after her.
