Chapter 99: Telling The Truth

By the time Rowan had even gotten through the story about why she had run away to Montana, it was dark outside, and Burger let her know that he had to take a quick run. After she let her dog out to run, she sat back down at the table, and she could see that her parents were starting to wonder about her sanity.

“I know… it’s a lot to take in,” Rowan stated slowly.

“Rowan, it’s not that we don’t believe you about Charles. We’ve seen the headlines. But… the fact that you heard about it from his cat…” her mother said cautiously.

“Do you remember the little bird that used to come and sit on the window every morning?” Rowan asked her mother.

“Yes, you named it Bitty. Well, both of them. There was one at our house in Washington and this one here. Come to think of it there was one in Florida as well. You named them all bitty,” her mother said with an affectionate laugh.
